This is a long read but has pretty good info on how audioholics (one of the trustable and knowledgeable reviewers out there) certify each subwoofer they review https://www.audioholics.com/louds...-room-size if you want to skip all reading, the monolith 15 is extreme certified which means this should easily fill spaces greater than 5000 cu feet. Hope this helps

Picture is only half of the movie.
What is more of a question is if you don't care about high end audio, why are you in a thread for it?

That's no bueno, difficult to balance.
Yeah I've tried before with the monolith 12" and a SVS PB10. Works good for music but when you start playing movies with LFE one sub can't keep up and you notice it.

Yes, they have a different driver size, different frequency range.

Any thoughts in that case on whether I should stick with a 12 inch or move to a 15 inch for a 2000 cu ft room. Do I get more advantage than just loudness? I hear some folks saying 15 inch monolith is not as taut as 12. No plans for duals right now

See response from Antonio at Monoprice for the 12 and 15 ported paired together situation.
"Thank you for patiently waiting. I sincerely apologize but I have confirmed that both products can definitely be paired in the same room even though their loudness and response will be different at the same frequenceies. but they will pair fine as duals in a room."
Maybe this means they are not technically as good as SVS folks?

You can pair any sub you want, if you want a proper setup you'll want them at the same size at least, esp if you use automated calibration devices.

I agree. I currently have the Monolith 15 in addition to a 12" alpine I repurposed from my car audio days. I have one up front and one in back rather than both in the same plane. I feel this works reasonably well. Measurements are required for proper placement. Get a good mic, REW and some time/patience to get the most even/flat response. Also play with phase control.

So I received my Monolith 15" today. Kinda felt bad for the Fedex person struggling to get that huge ass box to the front door. Anyway, was wondering if anyone else received there's through this deal and how are you liking it so far? Gunna hook it up tonight.

Received mine a few weeks ago. I bought as open box. Got it dialed in with my kilpsch 12rd and loving it. Hope you are enjoying yours. Didn't see my FedEx guy bring it down but yeah it was massive lol

This thread reminds me of the DIY builds I did for myself and my son in early 2000s: Built myself a cylindrical ported subwoofer using Adire Audio 15" tempest with the 74 cubic liter layout which was their recommended volume for optimal HT/Musicality. I used the green sewer pipe you commonly see at road construction sites. 13foot long section was delivered to me for this. The wall of the pipe was over 5/8" thick. You can sit on it and not compress the pipe. No cyclindrical subwoofer can even come close to that strength on the market. That sub was about 4 feet high. Also made 2 more subs for my son who was doing DJ stuff while in high school. Used Adire Audio 18" Maelstroms. They were driven by a 2x1000 watt amplifier. Needless to say, they brought upon an audience in his high school true nausea. The bass was relentless.

Look up Adire Audio. The original ownership. Best engineered drivers of the day. They even had a product ready to market called the Parthenon. It will make the Monoprice feel like child's play.
Thanks for the heads up, I looked up who the original owner was Dan Wiggins. Pretty interesting background.

So mine came in this weekend with some dents on the boxes(outer and inner), opened it up with a pounding heart. Felt depressed to see that the dents left cosmetic marks on the sub too. If only they did freight shipping for such a monster! I hooked it up to check performance. First impressions: Without any dialling in/tweaking, quite louder and more air movement than its 12 inch little brother, but definitely not as tight as I would've wanted like the 12 inch ported for the same scenes(Aquaman sub fight scene, Godzilla king of monsters beginning, Ready Player One). Even tried with all ports closed.
Returning 15 inch and keeping my 12 inch(not because of this, but because of the cosmetics). Please understand my opinion is as it behaves OOB without any dialling in.
Gain: +5 DB, Extended on. Even without any adjustments, I was honestly expecting the 15 to be as tight as the 12 inch one(which it is OOB), but turned out to be boomier than I liked.
Maybe will order another 12 inch in the future and convert to duals.

So far my preliminary conclusion agrees with what I read in forums on the tightness. I will try room correction again next week before it gets picked up and report if it makes me feel any different.

Thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear about the cosmetic damages That sucks! Im coming from a Jamo S810 10" subwoofer so the difference was night and day in a big open living room. I still need to do measurements and tuning with the MiniDSP HD. I also had to put the sub behind the sofa because there's no room at all in the front.

Oh yea, don't even compare the Jamos to these- they are no match for sure. The only thing I hate about the 15s is the boominess which I did not expect to be as much. Dunno if it doesn't like my room, unlike its little brother. Other than that, excellent sub just like the 12 inch one. Only I can't justify the price difference because of the tightness it lacks in comparison. But then maybe it's something to do with my setup, which I will try tweaking.
