Anyone have any comments on a 2x 12" V30 cab vs a 1x 12" V30 cab at lower wattages and volumes? Is it just a complete waste of money and space to have 2 speakers or does it sound better?
There is more bass with 2 x 12" cabinet with larger amount of space. The difference should be noticeable, so you could test your amp on the two different cabinets at some place like Guitar center to get an idea of the sound.

A 1 x 12" cabinet is convenient for moving and saving space at home.

Speaker alone costs 140 new. V30 is a sure thing. Been looking for something to pair with my MT15 for more portable setup. Mark V too heavy to carry around.

These sound pretty good for the price but you will be laughed out of the garage band for bringing it in.
The speaker in there is a pretty classic speaker. I don't think anybody really cares what badge is on it as long as it sounds great.

Let's clarify precious responses: this cab would sound just fine with a Helix AS LONG AS you've DISABLED your "cab" block, and are only using an "amp" block. If you want to emulate a cab in the Helix (either by built in cab or an "impulse response") then you would need an FRFR speaker for the best sound possible. Again, not necessary as long as you disable the cab block - which is quite obvious since you already HAVE a cab... This item.
Exactly - plus some kind of power amp which they have a lot of good pedal sized options now.

An additional power amp is not required if you want your Helix to emulate the power amp using the 20+ amps it has built in.

This ^. Nobody cares who makes the box. A real musician cares more about the speaker inside. This is 3/4' plywood with a Celestion G12 Vintage 30. The speaker alone retails for the cost of the cab. You get a nice cab for free. If anyone gives you shit, they don't know anything about amps/cabs, and you can safely ignore them anyway,

It's perfectly fine to run a helix through this cab (assuming you have a power amp). You simply turn off the IR in the helix.

This is all pertaining to modern performance and recording, and is just my opinion just based on personal and anecdotal experience from those I've worked with: a 1x12 sounds good for clean and edge of breakup tones (and lots of iconic recorded cleans were recorded on legendary 1x12 combos). They work live in music genre's with quieter drummers.

With crunch or high gain tones, a 1x12 can sound a little boxy, but by no means bad and can sometimes be the sound you're looking for. A 1x12 may lack the volume for live hard rock & metal, however (This matters less if your're mic'd up through the PA and you can point the 1x12 at your head so you can hear yourself). A 2x12 typically sounds punchy and midrange focused, which makes it really good for live shows as the frequencies are focused where the guitar should sit in the range, not encroaching on the bass too much. It will also have enough volume to be heard over the band for any genre of music.

A 4x12 typically sounds the most open and works best in a recording environment where you can eq out some of the lower frequencies that would muddy the mix.

You can of course, use any cab in most environments, but those are some of the most optimal uses.

What powers this speaker in your scenario? This speaker needs a power amp after the modeler in the rig.

I think this is a super rad deal and I'd be all over it if I hadn't moved to a modeler myself recently.

As with anything with axes & tone, it's all subjective - you need to do what you think sounds good for what you're trying to do. All that said.... there are some facts about this speaker with respect to using it with a modeler or profiler.

You will no doubt find any number of folks in Kemper or Helix forums that love running their modelers through a guitar amp, and if they love how they sound (and don't mind lugging around a guitar amp) then let it rip!

However, be aware that in doing this with this speaker - you're putting every modeled sound back through a guitar speaker. That rig you dialed in with a particular cabinet, it's now through the celestion in this cab. This is going to color all of your tones - it's just a fact. What you need to decide is if you like and want that.

My $.02 is that I made the change over to a modeler maybe a month or so ago, and after reading tons of stuff, I decided to get an FRFR-like speaker, but I went with the QSC K10.2. I was interested in being able to replicate the tone wherever and whenever, and it definitely does that. The FRFR speaker situation is a pretty disappointing added expense to going to a modeler, which is tough to stomach when you already own like 5 amps, but I think it was worth it.

Hope this helps.
