Can I buy this and replace a 200w power supply in a Dell desktop? I need a new desktop where I can upgrade the video card. Most of the new desktops have weak power supply.

Most dell have a proprietary motherboard power connector that pairs with their proprietary power supply. However, there are adapters that may work for you depending on your model and if you have a standard sized power supply. I used the adapter linked below in a Dell PowerEdge T30 to upgrade my powersupply. Your other option is to buy a used power supply on ebay that is larger than your 200W assuming your graphics card doesn't need external power.

Thanks very helpful. In terms of the installation, is it as easy as swapping the power supply or do I need to remove other parts first. I understand it may be different for every build. But in general is the swap easy? Thanks for the insights.

It really depends on your build. On my T30 it was as easy as removing the 4 screws in the back, unplugging any power cables hooked into the motherboard and sliding it out. Install was just the reverse except I chose to use the sata power connectors on the new power supply. The Dell power supply had no SATA power connectors on it and instead relied on a power connector on the motherboard. I am sure I could have still used them, but I would rather use the power supply ones directly.
