ain't worth more than the closeout price of $16. Kitchenaid as gone downhill in quality over the past decade.
Bread knifes should be low quality and cheap. They are impossible to sharpen once they are dull (at least the scalloped ones are). No point in getting a nice one.

That's why I got it. Not that you ever should pay MSRP for anything from Kitchenaid, but the quality is probably more like a knife you'd probably pay $30-$40 for. From the reviews I could find it's probably better than any sub $20 knife though, and I have had a good experience with Kitchenaid warranty support if it fails under normal use. Too poor of a quality in a bread knife sucks when you've baked some breads, but this should be fine for occasional home use.
I bought a nice 8" bread knife in the past and have had my share of accidents with it.
I'd recommend getting a 10" knife off of amazon much cheaper (likely better quality) and you will thank yourself by preventing accidents I mean unless you are prone to cutting yourself.

I'm confused on how a 2" longer bread knife is going to prevent accidents... and what kind of accidents happen with a bread knife.

However it was only $15 when I got it a few months ago. So I'd wait for it to come back in stock to see if the price drops.
