31% of the children tested in FL have tested positive over the past 2 weeks.

My sister in law, a healthy 51 yr old fitness competitor, and avid health nut with zero medical issues nor family history passed away 7 weeks ago from Covid. She had the selfless occupation of caring for those with the illness.
After 3 weeks her lungs looked like that of a 20 year smoker, Seeing the X-rays was horrifying. She wasn't a drinker nor smoker.

These books can't hurt any children's learning so buying something that can potentially help a child learn is a winner every day in my book., My son finds them to be fun.
Great points.

If I may add. At the risk of getting downvoted into a ditch , i am going to say this.

The reason Trump is pushing for schools to reopen is not that he gives 2 shits about education or kids getting healthy meals or getting free internet. You can find evidence all over the internet hating these very policies.

The reason trump is pushing for schools to reopen , is so that parents have no excuse to sit at home and the economy can be shocked into a forced reboot. He is being pressured by businesses. To show growth and good numbers before elections.

Now I agree good quality meals and internet is important , but none are worth the risk of getting CoVid and passing it on to adults and sick grandparents.

Children get the disease very rarely , but that's not to say that they are completely immune. And they can very well pass it on.
I get it. This is all important stuff as parents...

But can we get back to just sharing good books for littles that we've found? I'm "trapped" in a house with a little that I love and if love to get a bunch of books like these because I'd rather do these with him than watch another animated episode of whatever.

This is Slickdeals. Not saying it isn't important, but other forums have debating AAP guidelines etc covered.

That's my TED talk. Thanks for watching.

thanks...bought a bunch of books for my 4 year old. Time to get cracking with the home schooling now that it looks like school will be unsafe for a least a year or so.

Not that schools are unsafe, but I can't trust children to wear their masks the entire time and wash their hands often. My nephew seems to think masks are just slingshots you can store on your face.

The AAP guidance is based on what pediatricians and infectious disease specialists know about COVID-19 and kids. Evidence so far suggests that children and adolescents are less likely to have symptoms or severe disease from infection. They also appear less likely to become infected or spread the virus.
Schools provide more than just academics to children and adolescents. In addition to reading, writing and math, children learn social and emotional skills, get exercise and access to mental health support and other things that cannot be provided with online learning. For many families, school is where kids get healthy meals, access to the internet, and other vital services.

A big question parents have right now is how students can go back to school safely during COVID-19. The latest American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) advice says children learn best when they are in school. However, returning to school in person needs careful steps in place to keep students and staff safe.
Ideally, local school leaders, public health experts, educators and parents can work together to decide how and when to reopen schools. These decisions will need to take into account the spread of COVID-19 in the community, as well as whether schools are able to make in-person learning safe. Schools and families should also prepare to go back to virtual learning if COVID cases increase in the community.

We should do partial. Those parents who wants to open school should be allowed to send their kids to school. Those who want virtual school can remain in virtual classes as they watch to see how infectious it really is. For example, LA County in California will remain close during the Fall while OC county wants to reopen schools. Let OC county open up their school. That way I, from LA County, can conduct my own research based by the infection data in OC County.

Even if Children are not as susceptible to complications from the virus, they can be carriers and infect the rest of us at home.

Since my child is only preschool age of 4 (having only attended 5 months) before the virus hit, It is a relatively easy decision to keep her out of pre-school. Pre-school is only fun and games and social interaction for now. Real academics will start at Kindergarden at age 5. So we have about another year before facing the hard decision of whether to hold her back or send her to a hazard zone called school.
