So obviously people differ on their wants, so I am not going to say "don't get this". I'll just warn about the "latte/espresso/cappuccino" experience, give some other pros/cons to help some make an informed decision.
I'll start by saying that - with espresso -- this does not make an espresso. There's a clear difference between espresso and concentrated coffee. This makes 2 oz concentrated coffee. If you are looking for espresso that is simple and easy to use, get a nespresso machine to use along side this thing. You can then use its frother and there are plenty of other good things about this machine that make it worth the $100 -- but for coffee , not espresso.
As far as regular drip coffee - this machine lets you have a lot of options. You can do 2/6/8/10/12 oz. The "strong" button is key for 2 things. For 2 oz, it defaults to strong and you can use this as a base for things - say you want to make a coffee-tasting shake. Or if you want to make a cold coffee that would otherwise get watered down. The "strong" on the 6-12 oz can be great if you're using your own grounds that are coarser. Coarser grounds will need more time in hot water to make a decent cup. Some grounds are too fine so you wouldnt want to use that setting most of the time.
For $100 i think it's a good buy despite my reluctance to use it as an espresso/latte/cappuccino machine.
A few annoyances:
1) The water reservoir works in such a way that it will not let you make coffee if there isn't enough water. Sounds logical until you see that you clearly have enough for a 6 or 8 oz but it requires the min to be enough for a 12 oz. It's a minor gripe.
2) On 3 occasions, I turned the machine on and water began pouring out. A glitch that has only happened 3 times in nearly 600 days of ownership. Water was cold too.
3) This thing takes up a lot of counter space
4) I personally do not like the frother. It makes the milk way too foamy. To be fair, if you bought a nespresso with frother, the foamy issue would still exist. I'm just not a fan of this method of frothing milk. On the other hand it's much easier than learning how to use a steam wand.
