My new house has the TV above the Fireplace which I don't like.

This mount lets you pull the TV down to a better viewing position. I've also got an extension from Amazon that lets me mount my Polk S35 Center Channel to the TV so it moves with the TV.

This was $154 last week and just went on sale today.

I moved into a new house about a year ago and the only place for a tv without cutting off a corner or blocking windows was to mount it above the tv. Picked one of these and had it installed and it's so much better than having it just flat mounted above the fireplace.

We keep it in the down position about 90% of the time, but it's nice to be able to push it up when we need the space/know we won't be using the TV. I bought the DVD bracket from Monoprice which attaches to this to hold my center channel. It does prevent the handles on the wall mount bracket so I have to pull down/push up the tv by the sides of the tv, which isn't a big deal to me. I have a 75 inch TV on this thing and have never questioned if it was going to hold.

Just sold my monoprice pull-down mount. The model I had is discontinued, but is basically the same thing. Worked great on my 65" OLED. The height you have to mount it above the mantle depends on how deep your mantle is. The one I have has the back of the TV 6" from the wall when it's up. https://imgur.com/a/cl5fnal

you didnt buy a pull down bracket for 36.99, maybe an articulating/tilt mount.

Been using this for 3 years on a outdoor fireplace, its a covered area but still outdoors in the Texas heat and still works perfectly. If you're looking for something thats slim this isnt it but it makes watching TV where you must mount it much higher than eye level it makes it much more enjoyable.

Installing a sound bar is completely doable. I did that myself. But, it does throw the weight off a bit. It still goes up and down, but is now a little more difficult to do. My wife was fine before and asks me to do it now .

Anybody use this for a LG OLED? Reviews say that it makes the TV very high with a lot of the mount visible when in the "up" position. This is due to the VESA holes on the LG's being towards the bottom of the display. Is there a way to mount the LG OLED's and cover the mount when in the "up" position?

I installed a 65 inch TV on this mount. It was easy, but I had studs to work with rather than brick.
I keep it lowered basically all the time, as the fireplace is non-functional. When I am lifting the tv, it does take a bit of effort, but it is possible that I didn't adjust it properly.

It is a massive improvement over the previous mount.

Do make sure that your HDMI cable and power cable is long enough so it can run the full length of the arm.

I've got the same situation, I did a lot of research and ended up going with a Mantel Mount. Very happy with it. I have a heavy Sony 65 inch and didn't want to risk it. Moves with ease. No, I'm not paid to advertise for them. Great customer service too. I needed to buy longer mounting brackets due to the spacing on my fireplace. This can be checked with a stud-finder. I was able to do it all myself and they come with paintable covers to hide them.

Yeah, that's why I have one sitting unused in my garage. The deeper your mantle, the higher you have to mount it, and it just looked ridiculous having the handle almost a foot above the mantle.

I have this mount with a 65" TCL and you see the bottom horizontal bracket that's attached to the wall when it's in the up position. I'm assuming the same would be true for people asking about LG tvs. My TCL also has the VESA mounts near the bottom of the TV. I couldn't find a solution to get it mounted higher on the back, but my TV is almost always pulled down so it's not a major issue.
