I remember telling some of my friends who were into video games and even they didn't have any idea about these games because most of them didn't really play the Dreamcast. I thought this series was dead for sure and my only chance of playing the first game was to get an actual Dreamcast. Seems like Shenmue still had a strong underground-type following and I completely understand because I was lucky enough to play the second one on the Xbox.
Reminiscing aside, can anyone tell me if the remastered games on PS4 are any good? I never played Shenmue I and didn't finish Shenmue II, so I'm eager to get it. I have been holding off because I wanted to make sure I had enough time set aside to play them. I'm a bit afraid that Shenmue II won't hold up to all the nostalgia and praise I developed for it since I had to return it to Blockbuster almost 20 years ago.
I don't care if Shenmue III is outdated or didn't get great reviews. If it's anything like Shenmue II then it's a success for me. Some of the reviewers complaints seem ridiculous considering the shoe string budget this game was made with and how they didn't seem to have played the original games at the time they were released.
