The model according to Sam's Clubs listing is 15-dy1971cl. According to crucial.com it is 2 banks with a total memory capacity of 32GB. See the following: Http://crucial.com/compatible-upg...5-dy1971cl
interesting.. how does crucial get a total max of 32gb? i thought ram chips only come in 8, 16 sizes? (you only have 1 slot to work with) you would have to insert a 24gb chip? am I looking at this correctly??

There are 2 slots. You can replace the 8 with a 16. Look at YouTube for instructions on opening the 15 series case to access the memory.

Very attractive for an I7
Looks like soldered memory - so maxed out at 8GB
256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 Solid State Drive
Looks like double the SSD size, same proc and same soldered memory and touchscreen for $100 more

Also there is no Backlit Keyboard.
If the RAM was upgradable and had a backlit keyboard, this would be a slick deal due to Covid prices.

"Memory (RAM): 8 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)
Maximum Memory Expansion: Memory slot not user accessible"
See further explanations below as this does seem to be possible...

Memory upgrading requires removal of the chasis. HP doesn't consider that user accessible. It is doable.
