Good price on Thermapens considering almost all colors are actually available. A few other ATK top rated ThermoWorks wares are 25% off including the ThermoPop for $25.50. Shipping is $3.99.
EDIT: Sale is still live as of 7/23 8:55am ET despite the page stating "Ends Wed. July 22 at 11:59 PM PT"

How is this better than a $5 meat thermometer?
This will provide much more accurate readings and also settles on the correct temp very quickly. I find the speed of the reading to be a great feature. It's also waterproof to the point you can wash the entire thing without damaging it.
This is the America's Test Kitchen version. What is the difference between this and the regular MK4?
Just did a chat with a rep...
The sale from Americas Test Kitchen is the exact same Thermapen Mk4 as ours. We have a partnership with them, and they will occasionally advertise our stuff, and in return, we will offer sales and discounts through them.
I just started upgrading my kitchen and have invested in many quality stuff.
Just ordered and received Thermapop for 30 something. Now this deal shows up.
Is it worth upgrading given the deal and sell the thermapop?

This is a Buy-It-For-Life item so IMO, i'd recommend getting it.I've used mine (old version) for many years and still use it till today.
Also you should keep the thermapop for items you don't really need that much of an accuracy.
You should update the thread title to say that ThermaPop is on discount too.
Thermapop is a good model for home usage. I just contacted their customer service through online chat and they did a price match for my order from few days back.
For anyone who cares, I always went with cheap thermometers from wherever. Never could justify spending this kind of money for one.
But then I bought a Mark 4 last Black Friday, and all I can say is I wish I had bought one years ago. Instant, accurate temperature. I think of how many chops/steaks/roasts that were ruined over the years, and this would have paid for itself years ago.
so how many of you are buying the silicone case along with this?
I've been using my mk4 with a silicon case for a few years. It has magnets, so I stick it to a metal appliance in the kitchen for easier access. It also makes it easy to grip with mitts if you are working at the BBQ or something very hot. It will also provide shock resistance if you drop it.
Anyone have thoughts on the MK4 versus the Classic? I have a Classic already and wondering if it's worth getting the upgrade. Seems like the only real upgrades are additional water resistance, and maybe more critically, taking a AAA battery (though I've only had to replace the Classic battery once in the last year or two so...)
