If you get rejected sometimes there are errors in their automation side or just simply discrepancies. I have always called the reconsideration lines for credit agencies and sometimes even gotten approved over the phone.
At the least it will tell you why you got denied and it will be a learning experience. In this specific case: Always call

500 dollars cash back for hard credit inquiry ok then
This is 5x UR, which is (for many folks) more valuable than 6% cash... (7.5% cash back equivalent on the low end, potentially even higher).
Plus the 6% cash card has an annual fee but that's a whole other discussion.
No fees on this card, as long as you pay at least the minimum on time. You also have 0% Interest for 15 months!

Anyway the offer has bounced around in the 15k-20k range over the years... the extra thing that's new is the 5x on groceries for a limited time on top of that... which combined with the 1.5x pay-your-self-back feature for groceries CSR owners have access to effectively makes this 7.5% cash back equivalent on grocery spend.

Does chase use L3 purchase data? Do we still get a cashback if we buy visa gc at safeway?

not sure which part was REddit referring to?
Can the referrer still get the $100, while the new client gets all the bonus, $200+ 5% CB on grocery.
I would like to refer another family member. Tho it is the regular freedom, not the unlimited card

I've no idea about VISA cards as I don't generally pay money to buy money, but I've bought tons of no-extra-cost store GCs (to both the grocery store itself and lots of other places the grocery store sells GCs to) and never had an issue getting 5x points on it when that was on offer.
It's a great way to, for example, get 5x points on such spend outside of the usually narrow parts of the year it's available.
