Not multiple of the same card. 1 Freedom Unlimited and 1 Freedom — yes.

If you get rejected sometimes there are errors in their automation side or just simply discrepancies. I have always called the reconsideration lines for credit agencies and sometimes even gotten approved over the phone.

At the least it will tell you why you got denied and it will be a learning experience. In this specific case: Always call laugh out loud
That's not how the offer reads:

Earn a $200 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.* And earn 5% cash back on grocery store purchases (not including TargetĀ® or WalmartĀ® purchases) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year.*
Yes you are. The Chase Freedom and Freedom Unlimited are different cards. Go and apply for it! If you do, please use someone's referral link (they get $100) to share the wealth!

Thank you so much! I was able to confirm I do have the extra 3.5% for grocery. This was the whole reason I got the card. Thanks again.

Edit: Screw it I applied. Approved with $8100 CL. My credit ain't that good but it looks like being a long term customer helps.

Should I get this card, or the United MPE 60K offer? Already have CF and CSP.
Should I eat cereal or pancake for breakfast?

Seriously, how do you expect people to answer questions like this without any background, goal, travel plan other circumstances etc.? Get whatever card works for you, have some faith in your own decision making process and think intelligently. Otherwise, we are no better than sheep. Don't be a sheep.

Thank you and sorry for my outburst (not a good way to start the day).

So don't write it off.
Already did. Got Visa from BOfA. Variable percentage of cashback, up to 3% (i think 2% on groceries) and they added $200 on top of it. So as I said, Chase can take a hike Smilie

Has anyone who already had the card closed it and applied as new again and got bonus ?
Is there a gap that one needs to keep between closing card and applying again?

Has to be 24 months since the last time you got the bonus (when you opened or closed the card is 100% irrelevant to the bonus- only that it's been 24 months since your last bonus of that type... and that's 24 months from the month you earned the bonus not when you signed up for it)

Only relevance opening the card has is how it impacts your 5/24 score- but by nature of the bonus 24 month clock the opening will always have fallen off by the time you're eligible for the same bonus again.

Only relevance closing it has is insuring it's fully closed before opening a new one (so a few days, maybe a week tops?)- technically you don't even need to close the account, just product change to a different card... (good way to get yourself a second regular Freedom if you find yourself hitting the normal $1500 cap on your first one for example)

Great points! Thanks.
I will have to check for the exact number of months since I received the previous bonus; if my memory serves me right it was a long time ago probably in 2017/2018.

I already have Freedom Unlimited and Regular Freedom so no scope for product change hence thought I will close the Freedom Unlimited.
Apart from my total available credit decreasing owing to the closing (and consequent dip in credit score) is there any other downside to closing the existing Freedom Unlimited card ?

FWIW you can still product change another chase card into a Freedom- you can have more than 1 as I mention (and it's useful since you get a second $1500 per quarter to earn 5x points)

As to your closing question-yeah your total available credit dipping is the main concern there.... you can usually ask Chase to move most of it to another card first though before closing.

Oh I guess the other concern would be if it's a card you've had a LONG time, especially if it's the one you've had the longest, closing it can eventually hurt your average age of credit but that's not gonna be a freedom unlimited for most people Smilie

It really depends, if you're approved right away after the application or if they need to review something afterwards, which could take another 1-3 days. After getting approved, you usually get the card on the mail within 7-10 days but there are times Chase will expedite the card for you

Anyone know if you would still get this bonus if you downgraded an existing Chase Sapphire Reserve card to this?
