If you get rejected sometimes there are errors in their automation side or just simply discrepancies. I have always called the reconsideration lines for credit agencies and sometimes even gotten approved over the phone.
At the least it will tell you why you got denied and it will be a learning experience. In this specific case: Always call

Figured out by asking the wife. Was able to make a purchase for $1400
So I got one for my wife and it worked without a problem!
Interesting. Do you currently have an account with Chase? Seems they approve members much faster. I ended up applying as a guest.

...if you know about 5/24 why do you keep wasting hard pulls when you know you won't qualify?
And as bru_that noted- nearly all the other card issuers have SOME version of a rule like that to limit churning, some better and some worse than 5/24 depending.

I ended up calling their credit card support number and the automated message said that I was approved! Have a similar credit history to yours. Cheers
The Chase Freedom also has the same offer with 5% for rotating categories, so which is better considering that i mostly use it for grocery shopping ?
(which is sometimes a 5x category for regular Freedom, and sometimes one for Discover which you can use indirectly to buy Costco groceries)
