Not multiple of the same card. 1 Freedom Unlimited and 1 Freedom — yes.

If you get rejected sometimes there are errors in their automation side or just simply discrepancies. I have always called the reconsideration lines for credit agencies and sometimes even gotten approved over the phone.

At the least it will tell you why you got denied and it will be a learning experience. In this specific case: Always call laugh out loud
That's not how the offer reads:

Earn a $200 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.* And earn 5% cash back on grocery store purchases (not including TargetĀ® or WalmartĀ® purchases) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year.*
Yes you are. The Chase Freedom and Freedom Unlimited are different cards. Go and apply for it! If you do, please use someone's referral link (they get $100) to share the wealth!

Do you have a preference of Chase Freedom Unlimited vs Freedom Flex?
I've actually got an Ink Unlimited rather than a Freedom unlimited... same 1.5x UR earn, but doesn't eat up a 5/24 slot like the personal card would (AND offered a better signup bonus than the personal too).

That said, word on the street is Chase has made it a lot harder to get a business card these days with less-than-super-documented companies (I haven't had cause to try myself since I've had all their biz cards in the last 24 months anyway)

I've got 2 regular freedom cards... (one was product changed a long time ago from an old Slate....the other was a downgrade of my CSP back when I got my CSR since I didn't need it anymore)

If I didn't have any of either I suppose I'd go with the flex as you'd have to do more than 3x the spending on the Unlimited to make up for the 5x rotating category earn

Right now I'm not even asking to change my regular freedoms over as the "extra" categories don't do much for someone who has a CSR and doesn't spend much at drug stores..... I'm waiting to see if the 5x categories on both cards end up being the same or not.... kinda hoping not and I can switch one over but not the other but we'll see.

Thanks for the feedback.

Here is some additional general information that I think will be helpful to add to your vast knowledge on credit cards.

As you might be aware, the Citi Simplicity card was the only card that City didn't allow one to product change from. They didn't change that policy for over 2 decades! Now they do. Online, they only offered me a product change to their Citi Rewards Plus card and that was the only option their customer service rep. offered. However, speaking to their retention department, allowed me product change (PC) options of Double Cash, Rewards Plus, Premier and American Advantage Platinum. However, they would not allow me to PC to the Citi Costco Card! They did not offer any logic of why that is not offered. I can only surmise that the Citi Costco card is a Visa while all Citi's other cards as Mastercard and this is why they don't allow it. I am speculating, of course.

Separately, do you know how often one can product change? Is it only one a year?
Thanks.

How good is Chase with paying out the bonus once you make $500 worth of purchases? Can you redeem it as a statement credit? And does an iPhone purchase meet the criteria?

Theres a progress bar towards the $500 inside the app, so it seems like its pretty much an automated process. It pays out as points, so you can use it on anything that points can typically be spent on (including statement credit), and iPhone purchase would qualify yes.

Perfect, thanks. It makes more sense to wait till the 15th to apply for the Flex card and get the $200 credit from there?

Yes, order directly from the Chase web site. Supposedly they will open it up on Sept 14 per Doctor of Credit (DoC) -- which is a fab site for financial information --- and which doesn't take commissions like slickdeals so DoC recommendations are not biased.

You are wrong; it is live for "product changes" via a phone call; will be live tomorrow for new applications. There is a difference between "product change" and "new application"
