Not multiple of the same card. 1 Freedom Unlimited and 1 Freedom — yes.

If you get rejected sometimes there are errors in their automation side or just simply discrepancies. I have always called the reconsideration lines for credit agencies and sometimes even gotten approved over the phone.

At the least it will tell you why you got denied and it will be a learning experience. In this specific case: Always call laugh out loud
That's not how the offer reads:

Earn a $200 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.* And earn 5% cash back on grocery store purchases (not including TargetĀ® or WalmartĀ® purchases) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year.*
Yes you are. The Chase Freedom and Freedom Unlimited are different cards. Go and apply for it! If you do, please use someone's referral link (they get $100) to share the wealth!

When the first statement of the new card is issued. Or maybe sooner.

Chase hates me.... I filed bankruptcy after the wife left me and the kids. This was almost 10 yrs ago. Credit hit rock bottom and it took a long time but credit is back up to almost 780 and they still won't touch me... Chase still doesn't like me..

If you really want Chase C's, try opening a checking and savings with with them.

Right at 10 years ago, I had similar issue as you. For same reason. I didn't have to file for bankruptcy but lost all CC's and score was below 300.

I built back and 12/2019 I applied for my first Chase CC w/a credit score about 675. I applied and got the SWA Priority card. This boosted my credit score and in April 2020, applied for and got the Chase Sapphire Reserve. With paying off all my CC's and available credit increasing by like x4 my credit score increased to about 760.

So August/Sept of 2020 I applied for the Freedom Unlimited. Was instantly denied. They mentioned a write off 10 years ago and no "deposit" accounts as the reason. So I opened a Chase checking and savings account (was planning to any way) waited 45-60 days and applied again for the CFU and was instantly approved.

This actually worked out as setting up a checking account and savings account with direct deposit for me $200. Then I earned the $200 from the CFU.

I think they changed up their algorithms the pandemic wore on.

I just paid off a car loan with Chase, 2 yrs early... I was surprised they gave me the car loan, to begin with. I got a cc with Capital One without any issues , a yr ago. i figure I would get the cc from Chase get a PS5, whenever they are available and get $200 back. Oh well...

Capital One is much more forgiving than Chase. But in general offers less.

I used Capital One to rebuild my credit. 2 CC's, checking and savings. But 2020 I'm moving over to Chase.

I just downgraded my sapphire card to this one but with no offer.
Bad move. Downgrade does not earn any bonus, and you cannot apply for the Freedom Unlimited card if you already have one. It is better to downgrade it to Sapphire (there is a regular version with no annual fee), then you can earn bonus on the Freedom Unlimited. I guess you can still apply for Freedom Flex and earn the bonus.

No plan to earn bonus by applying too many cards. I am out of that initial league.

Not everyone cares about free money, but for those who do, I want to warn them if they downgrade their Sapphire Preferred or Reserved to Freedom Unlimited, then they will waste the chance to earn the bonus.

I no more want this money applying different cards just for getting bonus and then close the card. For how long you think you will keep mis-using system. I am not into this game.

I think you misunderstood my point. I never asked anyone to close their account after getting the bonus. I merely said if you planned to get a Freedom Unlimited card, then it did not make sense to downgrade to this card because you would not earn the bonus. There was a better choice, downgrade to Sapphire (regular). Freedom Unlimited is a good card, I have been using it for like 7 years and I recommend people to keep it after earning the bonus.

I could have downgraded to either card but I am sure I dont want to apply for another card hence chose this one.

Do monthly bills like cable, internet, and cell phone count as purchases? Here is what it says on their website so I think it should but anyone knows for sure? Thank you

("Purchases" do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.)
