I did this about a month ago at $6.49 for the first year. The service works well for me. I emailed them my DropBox service cancelation from January and they were fine with it.
If you cancel right before the end of your first year you will most likely receive a discount for 50% your second year. That is what happened for me and several others that I signed up with initially. Best backup service around for large amounts of data if you don't have a high internet upload speed because they will ship you a drive to transfer your data onto (free once a year) instead of taking months to upload all of the data. I also like their archive cleanup feature because I want my backup to sync my local drive.

I paid much more when I signed up and I prefer it to Carbonite and backblaze which both seem to be designed by idiots for idiots.
What's wrong with Backblaze? Unlimited storage for $6 a month or $60 a year. I won't disclose how much I have backed up, but lets just say it's over 20TB. Makes RAID 1 and 5 and 10 a thing of the past. I've had the service for over a year now, and restores really are pretty easy. 8TB restore? They have that covered too, for free

I started using idrive this past week. Did my research on backblaze, Carbonite, etc and this service is not unlimited but it allows you to backup and store long term. Backblaze and Carbonite require whatever external harddrives you have be backed up every 30 or 60 days or that data will be deleted. I didn't feel like plugging in my external drives every 30 days so I went with idrive.

Amongst all other cloud backs up I have tried, IDrive seems to have most functionality and extremely intuitive interface Ability to back up multiple devices is great. Sync up multiple devices without using your backup quota is very useful Their archive cleanup is very well designed.

I actually do not like their sync option because you can't "sync" your backup folders. However, for others I see how this can be an advantage.
Misread me I think. If you needed to do a restore on 8TB of data (or more), instead of downloading 8TB+, BB will send you instead an 8TB drive for something like $200, fully refundable given you return the drive within 30 days (which I think is completely reasonable).
