We don't know when Zen 3 CPUs are launching, AMD has been vague on launch except "by the end of the year." If they come out before BF, you can expect the 3600's to probably go down to $120 (or at least that's what happened with the 2600 last year)

The only sort of thing we know about new CPU/GPU launches is that Nvidia's GPUs should be launched in September. AMD's are still up in the air even though they're going to be in the new consoles. I would expect AMD to make a joint conference for Zen 3 and RDNA2 though.

for "budget" you want a 3100 for 99 or 3300x 119.99 (those are msrp, do not pay more)and the biggest graphics card your money will allow. integrated graphics at 1440p will make you want to tear your eyes out.
this 3600 at 155 is a nice deal though.

Ryzen 5 is just becoming more and more of a really good choice for mid tower PCs

Can anyone please advise for a casual gamer looking to build a budget (as much as possible) PC that could play Star Wars Squadrons (non VR) when it comes out?

It seems like the integrated GPUs with Ryzen 3 and Ryzen 5 (3400g, last gen?) are not powerful enough to drive many newer games especially at 1440p? So may be better to get a processor like this and a discrete graphics card? I saw a budget PC posted in the post about the Ryzen 3 3200g for $99 and similarly had a separate video card. 1440p and "budget" PC prob don't go together?

Thank you!! Used to build PCs frequently but have not in 10 years...

I think this price is right where I am comfortable getting it now. With Zen 3s release unknown, I can't see this CPU being too much cheaper by BF.

I'm still rocking a Haswell i5 from 2014, so I am about due for an upgrade.

Anyone think it will be a significant price drop by BF? I'm talking $10-15 or more cheaper?

And here I was all set to get a 6 core/12 thread 10th gen i5 for $100 more, without a fan. Great find.

What? Of course lol. Black Friday is in November. You don't think this will drop by $10 until then? If you need it get it now, this is not a bad price. But if you can wait I think there's a very strong chance this will be $10 lower by Nov.

Thanks!! If putting the $50 difference between 3100 and this Ryzen 5 somewhere, would you recommend putting it towards video card ($150 video card instead of a $100 one, for example) or the processors?

At least with this deal it's less than MSRP, so makes me want to get this more than the Ryzen 3 at $99. Haha. could the ryzens with integrated gpu really run need games at 1080p? seemed like they may struggle in some of the YouTube videos and reviews I was reading. I don't think I need like 100 fps though.

Only real reason to get the 3600x over 3600 is if you need the upgraded cooler and aren't going with a 3rd party cooling option.

Oops...that was meant as a reply to the question about "worth getting the X"

Microcenter also has it for this price (in-store only) and you can save another $20 if you bundle with a compatible motherboard.
