Most important thing about a protector is clamping voltage, anything over 400 clamping v is trash. Go for a triplite protector

I have one and love it. It's big, but the layout of the plugs means you can tolerate the bricks,. The USB outlets collectively can pump out a max of 3.1A.

There are screws on the back designed to mount this horizontally; however it does not have holes designed for vertically mounting.

I see 6 outlet power strips for $3 to $7, isn't two of those much cheaper than this? I get the USB is a neat feature, but at this point I have so many USB chargers for my accessories and use PD for my other devices.

I wouldn't trust for those cheap power strips not to start a fire. Much rather pay a little extra for some peace of mind.

Just because you can connect 15 or more items into a single 15 or 20 amp circuit doesn't mean you should. Not to mention chances are extremely high that other outlets share that same circuit.

Just sayin'.

Was looking at this product earlier today, but the reviews with photos really scared me away. I love Anker for my cables, but this looks like a no go for me.

I am confused. How/why is a surge protector acceptable if a extension cord is not?

If they are just power strips then they will offer no protection to the electronics that are plugged into them, not every power strip is a surge protector. Check the surge protector's energy absorption rating, look at the Joules rating, the more joules (higher) the better.
