No way. I teach 8th grade and hand out (no joke) thousands of pencils a year to kids. Nothing beats Ticonderoga in strength of lead and ease of sharpening.
Apparently it is a limit of 3. If you add more, the prices back to normal starting with the fourth one.
For the amount of writing most students do with pencils these days the brand of pencil doesn't really matter too much.

True. But this is Staples house brand, and currently only has 5 reviews that are mixed. There are some pretty crappy pencils out there, don't sharpen well, points break often without applying a lot of pressure, and erasers that pop out the first time you use them. Not saying this is the case with these pencils, hopefully people that get them here will share their thoughts and even if they are bad you are only out 50 cents. And I agree for the writing most kids do nowadays in schools, a quality 12 pack of pencils could last their entire elementary school run.
