I have owned many throwaway laptops, and get a nice lenovo thinkpad or dell ($2k retail) from work every 3 years. I know laptops. The macbooks I have at home continue to work well past the cheapo laptops I have had, even the thinkpads. My daughter is still using our 2010 Macbook pro...
10 years of use out of a laptop I paid $700 for. That's value, anyway you slice it. Stop talking like you somehow know more than others, or you are the arbiter of what value is.
Fit and finish:
You're getting a machined aluminum casing with virtually zero flex to it, an unscrewed non-butterfly scissor switch keyboard which is supposed to be very good, well balanced hinges which allow for single handed opening, and plenty of other minor details which are nice.
Tech specs:
Yeah, this laptop may be a little light in specs on paper, but several reviews, such as the ones from Max Tech on YouTube, show that the laptop performs reasonably well in most tasks, including photo editing, and even video editing. Naturally, if you're going to be doing heavy 4K video editing all the time, you'd probably want a spec or model bump. Still, this apparently will edit and export 4K just fine, though a little slower than the $1799 model.
Speakers... No one mentions speakers on a laptop. Again, I don't like Apple, but their laptop speakers make all other laptop speakers sound like trash. It's true, and I don't like saying it.
How about the display on the 2020 base model 13" MacBook Pro? You get a DCI-P3 color accurate screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600, and 500 nits of brightness. That's a damn good screen for creative professionals at the sale price of $1099. Sure, I/O sucks on MacBooks, but the two USB-C ports support Thunderbolt 3, which greatly expands the laptop's potential.
You also get a Touchbar. This may be a con for many people, including myself because I use Function keys a lot, but this is still added tech which other laptops don't have. I can see creative professionals customizing shortcuts on this, and making it fairly useful.
This might not be a bad "wait and see" laptop to pick up at the price point if you don't need the extra RAM, and graphics boost of the $1799 model. Could always just sell this one when the ARM transition happens and upgrade if necessary.
Best of luck to anyone who is shopping for tech right now.

This isn't a screaming deal, but it's a decent price for a laptop with great build quality, great software support, and will last most for many years to come.
That said, I will be waiting to see the A14x or whatever Apple puts in their newest macbook. As they transition to their own chips, price should come down and batter life up.
they can buy what they want I'm just going to tell the ones that can think to do research instead of falling on the knife for the sheeple sake.
there are brands beyond apple.
real slickdealers know bang per buck and value rather than premium brands to show off.
premium brands can be bought but we want it to be at least worth it aka extreme deals.
I would buy a iphone after extreme deals from network companies as I sell some myself on ebay as a reward. But these guys want to spend money just to spend money like the tesla car pumpers when review after review talks of bad QC and they know prices are dropping. Why spend money when economy doing badly.
only stock market is up due to federal reserve free money for corporations to buy up assets at 0% interest. Slickdealers used to be better than this too many fakes now.

Sorry to crap on your thread. For anyone who wants Space Gray, this is a great deal! lol
I brought 2020 Macbook Air 10th gen i5 model - specs below from Costco last month. I am thinking of returning Air and buying this because of the heat issues, i use it for programming and sometimes Air is getting very hot. Pro would be $150 more than Air I brought for. Do you think it is worth going for this Pro?
Intel Core i5 1.1GHz Quad-Core Processor (10th Gen)
13.3" 2560x1600 LED Backlit Display w/ 720p FaceTime HD Camera
256GB PCIe Solid State Drive SSD
8GB LPDDR4X RAM (3733MHz)
802.11 Wireless-AC w/ Bluetooth 5.0
Intel Iris Plus Graphics
macOS
Inputs
2x Thunderbolt 3 USB-C

I don't see any mention of the Magic Keyboard on that one, however it does mention 256GB of storage... Maybe that's the 2019 model and not the 2020 model. If so, great. Maybe they'll charge $1249 online too!
