The BTOD reviews are from a company that doesn't sell Vari products (only competing brands), so even though they claim to be unbiased you might want to take that with a grain of salt. I ordered a few days ago based on reviews and am not planning to put a 50 lb dumbbell in the center of the desk so hopefully the stability isn't an issue.
They rate Vari as one of the stable ones. I went with their top recommended Uplift V2 commercial frame.

This goes down to 25", so many desks don't go lower than 30" and even though I am quite tall, that is much too high for good econometrics.
You have to source the top of any size you want. It's great. And at under 300 total with top from Home Depot it worked for me. I use it everyday and change between my four memory settings all the time. (Deep work sitting, light work sitting, deep work standing, conference call standing ).
Best purchase of 2020 for me.
Took me 1.5 hour to install, but that's cause I installed the feet on backwards and had to redo it.
