I thought this was a good read and the book did a better job of explaining the setting, tone and other details that were a bit confusing in the movie.

This is a much quicker, easier read than most McCarthy, but still amazing. There were a few scenes in the book that had they not been cut, would have made the film better, but I understand that they just didn't want to make the film too long. If you only have time to read one McCarthy book, BM or Suttree might be better from a literary standpoint, but this might be his most accessible. Easily worth $2

Sigurh's final scene about chance would have been perfect to close the film on, & I was kind of annoyed it got cut from the film. & Llewellyn (I believe that was the protagonist's name) came across as more noble in his final scenes in the book, where as in the movie, his nobility came across as a lil more ambiguous.

I have Prime (if that matters) and I clicked on the 'No Country' link in the OP. There was a banner at the top of the page showing "Read 10 Days in August and receive a $5 ebook credit." My interpretation is it's basically: Turn on your wi-fi linked Kindle 10 day this month and you'll get $5 a credit."

Here's the link, I'm pretty sure it's an 'Invited Guests' YMMV only sorta thing. https://www.amazon.com/b?node=21350784011

My take on it is this – if there is a pretty decent movie covering the book then why not just do the Movie or miniseries etc. Unless you have a particular interest in something then you should always go with your interest. But I figure there's so many books out there to read that if there is 10% or maybe more movies and series that Has been adapted from his books and they're pretty good then why not save some time, watch them, and cross off these books ... then you still have 85% of the worlds box left that will never be adapted that you can read. And I also pick and choose my books to listen to Listen to versus read. And yet my house is full of books I'll never get to and I keep buying more.

I read it after seeing the movie and was not disappointed. It has a little more detail than the movie (obviously), but the movie also did a great job of being pretty loyal to the book. There are some chunks of dialogue from the book that ended up being used in the movie which I got a kick out of.
