I carry one of this exact model on my keys daily. I keep a bunch of recovery tools and operating system installation installers on it. It's resilient as hell.

Definitely a good keeper for your everyday carry.
If other USB drives are not getting warm to the touch, where are they storing that heat? Answer: into the solid memory itself. I'd rather have the heat dissipated AWAY from the memory cells and evaporated away, as is the case with the metal housing, than to have a plastic housing and retain said heat. Heat is the enemy of all electronics, it would degrade the life, efficiency and performance of the product. You don't want heat to ruin your valuable data.
I remember getting by with a 32 MB thumb drive. For my birthday one year, I went down to Best Buy and purchased a 1 GB thumb drive. After I paid taxes it was over $100. I felt like I could put anything and everything on there. Now, 128 Gigs in a tiny flash drive for 20 bucks. Where's my flying car already?

I own one of these and bought in at the same price a few months back. Overall an okay drive but it does become hot if you are transferring a large amount of data. I have other drives that I will use before this one due to that issue.
Is that really an issue? I have several USB drives, and my SanDisk Ultra Fit has to be the hottest running one I have.

Is "feels hot" a real technical issue or do you just think it's bad?

Hmmm... That does seem to make more sense, the only issue I have with it is theres not many reviews and the Samsung Bar is pretty much a tried and true option, which to me is important. But I will definitely be keeping my eye on this dual port SanDisk model!

The case of this drive is a heatsink. I agree with you. Plastic is an insulator and that is why they feel cooler. In reality the heat is still there its just held inside the case. Really bad for electronics.
