    Almost got fooled by the pic, looks like an external case but, it's an internal drive.
    Wonder if it's possible to convert this into an external one ??

    Easy to add into a external drive case. Look for SATA to usb... enclosure.

    Looking at the past 2 yrs this is a pretty good price. They were this price most of Jan-Mar of this year and no they are coming back down. With the anomaly of Dell selling this for $25, the best price was $55 last Black Friday. I have a handful of these 850 & 860 EVOs for boot disks, project workspaces (video editing) and gaming drives. I love them and recommend them. If you can't wait until November, this isn't a bad price to grab.

    These are solid drives. I've imaged at least a 100 using the 500 and 250 GB drives and haven't had any issues.

    I have the 1 TB model of this put in a $12 usb 3.0 portable enclosure ant it's a beast. Not as fast as my Samsung T7 to thunderbolt 3, but also about $60 cheaper overall. It literally took 5 minutes to put it in and wipe it for mac os. Excellent portable backup.

    I need an ssd to test my old laptop with booting issue. worst case if it doesn't work I can use this as external drive with some enclosure. Not sure whether to go for 1TB (which is $130 ). Its always better to have more space. Or should I wait for November . I can see 1 TB went down to 109 last nov. and 500 GB went down to 57 .

    No. The Pro is marginally faster, but not worth the price. There's not really much benefit to having the Pro, especially in SATA format. The Pro does have a longer rated lifespan, but by the time it does, you'll be on to your next drive long before, anyway. Buy with confidence with the EVO.
