Microcenter has AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT Matisse 3.9GHz 8-Core AM4 Desktop Processor (100-100000279WO) on sale for $329.99. Select Free Store Pickup via Online Reservation. Thanks SDBuddy
Note, availability for store pickup may vary by location
This is the new XT variant, without a cpu cooler. Yes it's microcenter, and you can ship it, but if you do that, there are no mobos to bundle and ship for a $20 discount. These normally retail at $399.
Alternately, you can shop Microcenter in-store (or order online and pickup) for $330, and save an additional $20 when selecting a compatible motherboard.
Have had a 3800X for 9 months now ( with cooler 200mhz less boost 4.5 instead of 4.7 of the XT )
No complaints. Shocked they are still $300 on sale. I got it for $330 on a sale almost 9 months ago.
Mine runs 4300-4470 mhz on stock cooling/settings.
Does everything I need in games.
You're selling Ryzen short! You forgot to mention:
Beats Intel in virtually every metric and benchmark apart from a few extra FPS in some games under some circumstances.
Smokes Intel in multi-threading.
For those who keep a computer more than a few years, B550/X570 future proofs for PCI 4.0 SSDs and GPUs. Next-gen consoles being PCI 4.0, game file systems are in the midst of being optimized for ultra fast SSDs.
Way less security vulnerabilities than Intel.
Today's boards will support the Ryzen 4000 later this year which will likely rip the slight gaming edge from Intel completely.
Runs way lower wattage in addition to being easier to cool.
You get to experience the joy of rewarding a company that actually brought true innovation to a stagnant market exploited for years by Intel.
Those are just the reasons off the top of my head.
Someone that wants to save money
Someone that wants to upgrade an existing AM4 system

Price comps to help people
This was $330 also at Amazon and Walmart in the last 6 and 8 days, respectively (but free shipping). If you want it today, it's $6 more (but it's not $399). If you want it in-store, then you can do the mobo combo and save $20. Yay.
I checked amazon, wally, B&H, and BB, and it's $399 right now at those retailers.
edit: some of you might get this tax free, shipped to your location... depending on sales tax rates that could be $20-30 saved. I mean, until, you know, you report the purchase and missed sales tax on your next tax return, of course.

good price now but I think this chip is headed below 300 pretty soon. nobody thinks it's worth the price premium. it's barely faster than a 3700x in games (less than 2% on average per reviewer below) and doesn't come with a cooler. which is why i will be on the look out for it when they inevitably discount it
Get the 3900X instead. $70 for 50% more cores (+4), when going from 3600 to 3700/3800 is like $130-180 more for just 2 more cores. 3900X is the best value out there for a pretty high end CPU. If $400 is too much I would get the 3700X instead for $260.

I clicked a few spots into the video. Why did they all-core OC with Vcore at 1.375V? It's unrealistic for anyone to want to run at that setting. That's a no-no in terms of the amps that will draw into the package and also the thermals it will generate when running a harder stress/load involving AVX2 instructions. Heck, at 1.225V with 4.1Ghz all-core OC and with the frosty cool Liquid Freezer II 280 and 6 other case fans, I still managed to cause 96 C max temps using ycruncher "stress" test playlist (tests 10 and 11 did it).
I assume most people ignore stress tests on their all-core OCs else they wouldn't shout how great 4.3Ghz+ clocks are at 1.3+ Vcore. Or they only run Cinebench and play the odds they won't see anything near the synthetic workloads of ycruncher or Prime95.
