Is this the 9 series but Costco version? How does this compare to like a lower series from the QLED like Q6DT with similar price?

That comparison is with the Q60R... which is last year's model. The correct comparison is attached. FROM RTINGS: The Samsung RU9000 is marginally better than the Samsung Q60T QLED. The RU9000 has significantly better motion handling due to its much faster response time, it can remove judder from all sources, and it has a better HDR color gamut. However, the Q60T has a higher contrast ratio, higher peak brightness in SDR and HDR, and it has much better color accuracy out of the box. The Q60T has lower input lag but it doesn't support variable refresh rate, which the RU9000 does.

Thanks- Looks like there is the Sony 85" X850G on sale at Costco. Any thoughts on the RU9000 or the Sony X850G? Looking to place in a living room area.

Also very interested in opinions between the two. I am going to be pulling the trigger on one of them today and am leaning towards the Samsung but the larger Sony for a lower price is tempting.

I would say picture quality is probably very similar, although the Sony panel gets brighter and is direct-lit vs. the edge-lit Samsung. On the other hand, if you're a gamer, the Samsung supports VRR.

Yea one of the reasons I am planning on upgrading is to be ready for the PS5 so that is definitely something to consider regarding the Samsung.

Ok. So I went the with 85" Sony X850 over this Samsung. Seems like the Sony is a way better deal and extremely similar.
My first change over to another TV brand since a very long time. Just needed a big TV for a loft area that will get use of smart tv/TV channel watching.
Hope I made the right decision.

This is a good unit that supports 120Hz inputs at 1080p and 1440p. Neither the X850G nor the Q60T do that. This is a bit more future-proof than the other two.

PS5 is not confirmed to use Freesync VRR, only HDMI Forum VRR. I have not seen good confirmation of HDMI Forum VRR for RU9000. RTINGS has not been accurate.

They're using AMD parts and the TV is using AMD tech. It's safe to say they're going to use freesync. Sony already advertising "PS5 ready TV's"

To me I'm not too worried about not having VRR on the living room TV. Got a gaming monitor and I'm sure consoles will still lock their frames.

This 82" Samsung RU9000 uses a panel made by Samsung Display (Version No: FA01)
