It's not that crap. Not everyone needs OLED. For a good brand at this size and with Costco warranty, this is very good deal.
Love this TV! Native 120hz, VA Panel, Direct-lit but without Local Dimming, good natural color, great panel uniformity, low input lag, solid HDR performance (only 500-600 nits though) Highly recommended at this price.
This for sure

I actually bought this Sony 85" 850g and the 75" Samsung Q70 during the best buy deal. The Sony looks great until you put it next to the Samsung , night and day difference. Even with Dolby vision on the Sony, it is no match against the color and the deep blacks of the Samsung panel

Wow, the TV snob comments on this site are insufferable. "But its not an 8K OLED with 540hz native motionflow" LOL. It's an 85 inch TV from a good brand at $1400. Unbelievable.

Had 75" X850E which died after 2.5 years.
Mine also died after 4 years with 6 times blinking led. Found out many sonys tv are having the same issue.

Edit: mine was XBR65X850D
Edit2: red led blinking 6 times

Does anyone have this? Reading the reviews their seems to be issues with the wifi going out. I am not up to date with TVs and was wondering if this was a Sony issue or possibly just a "this tv" issue. The last review to mention wifi issues was two months ago so I do assume a software update could fix the problem as people said it happened when the screensavers was supposed to come on.

Does this mean that if I have an Apple TV and stream from it , tv won't accept 120hz ?
Video devices like Apple, Roku, Fire tv etc etc output video at 60hz. The only time you would want/need 120hz is for stuff like game consoles or PC. There isn't really such a thing as 120hz video (right now), and if there was it would look so awful no one could tolerate it. Think of the soap opera effect you see when motion smoothing is enabled? Now double it.

I am a little curious about that statement that this tv won't take a 120hz 1080p input.... that was from Rting's review, but I would try to fact check that against Sony? Maybe it's only on a certain HDMI port in game mode or something, but I find that suspect.

So the F is better than the G?
There are very few differences between the Sony X850F and the Sony X850G. The 2019 X850G has much lower input lag, and it supports eARC. Other than that, these two TVs perform very similarly.

No more OLED TVs for me, my wife loves just watching CNN for hours at a time and as we all know the CNN logo as well as BREAKING NEWS because CNN is sensationalist AF ruined the TV. All I have is a nice blue line around it now. Until these networks agree on stopping all these permanent red color signage Ill wait on another OLED.

Imma gonna hold out for X900H. First mainstream TV from Sony with HDMI 2.1. They are marketing it as "ready for PS5". The reviews so far are excellent. Sadly a 65" of that will cost more than 85" of this. But.... quality, not quantity (for some things)

Paid $1770 back in May. Love it. This TV definitely doesn't have the best picture quality. But I also didn't pay for the best picture quality. It's HUGE. And it's certainly bright enough; I have no problem watching tv in my sunlit living room.

Nobody tried comparing this to a 10k 88 inch oled. The quantitative FACTS are this TV has poor picture quality.
Thus the question. I do not see ANYWHERE where this TV of this SIZE has been compared with other TVs. (Rtings review is for totally different panel).

So, you say "quantitative FACTS". So, based on WHAT are you saying it is poor?

UGH!!! I finally got the "do what u want" from the wife on this lol. So I have a 125" projector screen and a Epson 5040UB ive had since December as a TV replacement. Does well but we don't like having the living room dark all the time. Any thoughts on the comparison between these two? This has dolby vision also.

Was it Q70R? Or Q70T? I hear Q70T isn't much better than this one other than it being much more brighter.

Also, how much is Q70 at 85" size? more than double this price.
