It's not that crap. Not everyone needs OLED. For a good brand at this size and with Costco warranty, this is very good deal.
Love this TV! Native 120hz, VA Panel, Direct-lit but without Local Dimming, good natural color, great panel uniformity, low input lag, solid HDR performance (only 500-600 nits though) Highly recommended at this price.
This for sure

No more OLED TVs for me, my wife loves just watching CNN for hours at a time and as we all know the CNN logo as well as BREAKING NEWS because CNN is sensationalist AF ruined the TV. All I have is a nice blue line around it now. Until these networks agree on stopping all these permanent red color signage Ill wait on another OLED.
Keep the TV. Replace the wife. 😆

Any good similarly priced real 4k projector? It's going to a basement and I don't need ultra short throw.
https://www.benq.com/en-us/explor...ished.html

Benq is selling a refurbished HT8050 for $1647. Its actually a 3k Projector that shifts to make 4k. Each pixel is assignable, so it is 4k.... but not native. Its main weakness is that it has a high black floor and it doesnt have HDR. Both can be fixed. I replaced my Elite Screens CineWhite material with Elite screens CineGrey 3D. Though it took a while to sew a new screen.

For HDR, you can get a Panasonic blu ray player for Tone mapping, or you can use an HD Fury linker, to force HDR.

If the Resolution is confusing
Native 4K res = 3840x2160=8MegaPixels
Benq HT8050 = 2716x1528=4MP shift=8MP
Eshift Projector= 1980x1080=2MP shift=4MP

According to their specs, the XBR85850 consumes power more than twice of the 86UM8070: 340W vs 157.3W. Maybe I am wrong?

What kind of mount are you guys getting for this? Which one do you trust and not crazy expensive?
I'm using this for my 85" 850G, mounted to studs. Works perfectly.

Probably needs more power since the picture quality is so much better

HD27HDR by optoma.....read below why....not a true 4k but has advantages over some 4k.

Optoma makes some good projectors. Just make sure the DLP chip is .65 ..and not .47.
I have HD141x with the .65 chip. Newer models use the cheaper .47 chip which has issues like light borders.

Movie theaters are closed...but you can have almost the same experience. 120 inch screen makes 85 inch so small. Of course, you need a good image so pure bluray is the best. Most streaming sites use compression so your bitrate can be lower. Bigger is only better if the quality of the source is good. That is why I have my 65 inch....and for special movies....bring on the projector.

Real 4K projectors a bit pricey..Some 4k projectors suck. .I recommend this one for you. Most content is 1080p and will work just fine. Display Technology Texas Instruments 0.65" 1080p DMD

Optoma HD27HDR gives away the big news about itself with its three-digit price and the three-letter acronym in its name: HDR. At this writing it is the only projector on the planet that costs anything like the price, supports HDR10, and can accept 4K input. Connect it to, say, a 4K Blu-ray player, and you can watch a 4K HDR movie with the benefits of HDR, even though the projector will downsample the resolution to its native 1080p.

The HD27HDR also has two key advantages over most current 4K projectors. It offers playback of 1080p 3D, which only a few 4K models support so far, and it has a far shorter input lag than any current 4K model. With Enhanced Gaming mode On, the lag is only 16.4 ms in most color modes, making it fast enough for serious gamers.

Finally after getting blasted on this site that OLED dont have burn in.....

OLED is fine if you dont have logos. They should ban all static logos.

But OLED is going away once you see more microled Tv which will give you near OLED blacks without any burn in potential.
