Most of the poor reviews were disappointed that there is zero regarding Exogel or Sidious.
Many like that these Szostak 'art of' books provide something about what creators were planning before the movie even started filming. Speculation about the lack of Palps runs rampant, but it wasn't to eliminate spoilers since the books release was delayed until after the movie. It's one reason there are theories about alternate versions/cuts.

I did read them. I saw some were upset that they didn't have "art from the movie." But I acknowledge that a lot talked about the lack of those things. But again the focus of these books are preproduction and concept art, not art from the final cut of the film.
