Play cards, build your deck to get the best combos! In Pirates Outlaws pick a character with a pre-made deck. Explore and manage your expedition to get more gold and reputation. Manage your deck and ammo to defeat enemies' strategy, in a turn based combat system. ~ persian_mafia
This is definitely a fun game, especially if you liked Slay the Spire
Hell yea, StS is soooo good, I barely play anything else on my switch.
Apparently the IAP on this game to make progression quicker is sort of required to avoid a LOT of grinding but at least being free gives me a chance to see if that purchase is worth it.

This is a pretty fun pirate themed Slay the Spire clone, but it has a huge grind.
Even with the IAP to cut that grind in half, there's still a huge grind to unlock things like additional relic slots and other characters.
There's also quite a bit of trial and error where you'll die to special abilities and surprise events you didn't know about.
It's pretty fun, but makes me appreciate even more the great design of Slay the Spire.
Don't get it. Seems a classic free to play and then in app purchases for good and crap.
Is this actually not free usually without the deal?
I think it is normally $1 or something. Which was a barrier for me to try honestly. Being free I will give it a go and if I really like it I don't mind spending a bit on IAP. Slay the Spire is a great game but more expensive upfront. Different models, but I don't think this one is inherently predatory, if anything it gives the user greater freedom instead of dropping $10 on a game and hating it, you can get it for free and if you like it then spend more. Allows you to be out less upfront. Just my opinion.

Thanks! I actively avoid games that have video ads I have to sit through or IAPs are integral to game progression.
I'd much rather pay $5-20 up front and actually enjoy the game.

as other said the grind to unlock more characters definitely sucks. I gave up after a few successful runs. its still great to play for free though.
