It's a pretty justifiable purchase if it fits your needs. I got one to pair with my new MBP and it's a great upgrade so far. Definitely priced better than like competitors.
That Samsung monitor might be worth it for some folk, but USB-C connectivity is a must have, personally.

I'm not sure if this fits my needs. My current monitor is a 1080p monitor being used for work (programming) as well as sometimes for movies and normal web browser/general desktop activities. It sucks for movies (dark scenes are horrible, can't see anything). For work purposes, I don't know if it's inadequate or not, I just don't know if it could be better.
Don't have a lot of experience with different displays.

Yes. Other differences are that Samsung is 28" and HDR which is missing here. No idea if the HDR produces a difference though. USB-C is nice to have, but to really take advantage laptop needs to support usb-c charging - unsupported on my laptop.

Having a hard time justifying the samsung monitor at $330 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sams...Id=63863
PPI is 163, I've been told 220 and 110 work best for the MacBook pro setups. Any input is appreciated

Yes it has USB-C and it's 60W output. Unsure of the answer to your question, though.
No worries, I noticed a couple errors in their posting as well.
