It is man. Last generation had the i7 9750 this has the 10750. It's the 2020 version.

If you can get the tax free price, it's a solid deal. Price drops for a kind of laptop with this hardware won't be that significant over the next 8 months until laptops with the RTX 30 series or AMD GPUs start replacing this market segment. Personally, I would evaluate my need for a gaming laptop especially with this design for mobile gaming. I bought a gaming laptop 2 years ago thinking I'd like the mobility but I basically used it as a desktop 95% of the time. If you're going to do that, just wait till the the fall / winter for the RTX 30 series and big navi. Desktops with those will be at least a couple hundred bucks more but will have at least 50% more performance than this laptop and will be pretty future proof for some time.

I just recently learned that the Lenovo Legion 5i has such "excellent" thermals compared to the Helios only because it literally forces the GPU to run at the lowest 80w mode whereas the Helios allows you to push up to 90w -- in the Lenovo system, your 2060 will be "gimped" in performance compared to the same 2060 in the Helios.

In other words the Helios give you more control and allows you to choose how you like your performance-to-thermal settings.

As with almost all laptops, undervolting and using a cooling pad will help.

I went with the Helios.
