All3DP Review [all3dp.com]

"As far as low-cost desktop DLP 3D printers go, the Anycubic Photon DLP 3D Printer has emerged as one of the most appealing options on the market. Anycubic has a reputation for building reliable and affordable printers like the Anycubic i3 Mega FDM 3D printer. When it comes to the price, the Anycubic Photon is no exception – it's one of the cheapest DLP 3D printers out there..."

For anyone new to 3D printing, resin printers are VERY different than the more popular filament-based FDM printers. Resin printers use some VERY nasty chemicals to operate. Do your research and watch some videos before committing to this.

FYI, Mega Zero does not have a heated bed. You really need a heated bed to get quality prints, otherwise, as a beginner, you will get frustrated when your prints won't stick. From All3DP:

The Mega Zero does not have an Ultrabase print bed, nor does it have a heated bed at all. Instead, it has a metal build plate. And though Anycubic advertises the printer to be suited for materials such as PETG or TPU (more on that later), it will be trickier to print with temperature-sensitive materials without a heated bed.

I actually didn't buy it, and my wife said 'just get it, if it's a good price now and you're going to want it later, might as well save the money'.

I'm just not to the point of wanting a Resin printer yet, just saw this on all3dp.com this morning and figured I would share the love.

Thanks. So it sounds like this isn't something I should be looking at if I've never done 3D printing before.

Always wanted to try it but have no experience with it. This seems like it may be above my skill set in terms of a machine to start with. Thanks n

Get an Ender 3 Pro if you're new. Tons and tons of fan help and documentation.

By the way, Anycubic sells a soy based resin that is supposed to be very fume free and safe. YMMV, do your own research.

As a beginner who doesn't know how big a deal no heated bed is, I get the sense I should wait for a heated bed FDM to drop < $200.

The key to getting into something as a beginner is to minimize hassle and frustration.

Yes. You want a heated bed. Ender 3D has a heated bed.

Also, leveling the bed is a pain for a newbie. If I had to do it over again I'd have bought something like a AnyCubic Chiron or Prusa Mini.

No if you haven't had one you could get this and learn about it the same as a FDM 3D printer. The learning curve isn't very step on either you just need to make sure you're taking proper precautions. Fortunately there is a huge community for anycubic and plenty of resources. It's more about what you want to print. Resin is better for smaller and finer details whereas FDM is better for bigger items and the detailing won't be as good, although with some practice you can dial it in. I have both and both serve their purposes. I would recommend watching some set up YouTube videos to help you make a decision.

So resin printers require special ventilation (like recommended for ABS FDM)?
