Lots of misinformation going around. There are NO problems receiving facetime calls while airplaying spotify AND third party support is coming

This is true today, but Apple announced support for third-party services this past June. That means, hopefully, Spotify will have first class support on Homepod when iOS14 is launched.
I bought a stereo pair of the White ones last time they went on sale and they sound amazing.
I got one last go-round at $199. If you miss it you will be able to get one in a few weeks at the rate they're going.

For the most part, I'm very happy with it. The sound is great compared to other speakers I've had that size. I think the command-to-response time is a little slow compared to the Amazon Echo 1st Gen and Amazon Echo Dot I have used in the past, and there are some things it doesn't do as well as Alexa. But for the most part it's a good deal, I think (especially if you don't want Google or Amazon to have more of your personal data, and you're already in the Apple ecosystem). I'd love to add another for a stereo pair, but I'd personally probably wait til it hit $150 (even on the used market).

Only problem with this one is it works only with Apple Music. That's not acceptable.

Do you think v1.0 of support for other music services will be good? Amzn and Google both still suck with anything that isn't developed by them to the point where I believe sonos is/was suing them.

Never looked into the HomePod. Can you explain? Isn't it a BT speaker you can just connect your iPhone to and output all sound to it? Looking to get a nice speaker for my night-time faux thunderstorm app.

I have the same question and just haven't taken the time to educate myself. I prefer to use my phone to pick what I want to play and just have it play on the speakers I choose. I don't need to ask ai people to do tasks for me. If I did want tasks done by voice, I would just ask my phone.
