No I'm pretty sure it's the hub that doesn't have a slot for an SD Card. I've seen them sale the gen 1 cams with this hub for a while now. Don't know of any other differences. You'd have to look into it to be sure but I'd read that you can have 5 cams one one base before having to purchase a storage plan. Some ppl have used two hubs to get around this by having 5 on each.
Edit: this is the first google result that came up
Can I have 2 Arlo base stations?
Yes you can set up two bases with two different accounts the only thing is you'll have to 1) have different passwords and Loggins and 2) you will have to arm each unit separately. I am running 2 Arlo Pro base stations on the same account.J
Multiple hubs: potentially more cameras without paying $$$. you can have a different Arlo account per hub, add up to 5 cameras/free account, then share access to cameras between accounts so you can access all your cameras from a single account.
Also, you can use multiple hubs to a single account so you have better signal if your cameras are spread over a large area or behind obstructions.

Thanks both for the info. Bummer there's no SD card for local storage.

Yeah definitely get one with local storage. I have my base stations on UPS and they will continue to record based on current settings even if internet goes out. I bought 2 of these because I have 10 Pro1/4 Pro2 and slowly replacing my Pro1s with Pro2s. Will sell off my Pro1s with these newer base stations locally.
i like these much better. i just purchased the lorex 4k camera which is pretty expensive too but the software is so terrible. example: a car would drive through my cul de sac and i would get like 4 notifications on that movement alone. it's so annoying. these arlo do drain batteries pretty fast though so if you mounting outside a solar panel is almost needed unless you like climbing on the roof or whatever your situation is to change out the battery every 1-2 months.
What is the best HD or better cam system with local storage? Anyone know or have an opinion?
The Arlo System is simple and its abilities limited unless you pay. If you are technically savvy, adding your own Security Cameras with internal storage, connected a Google Drive via the Internet or Gmail for alarms and LiveCams Pro for viewing is cheaper and more secure. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1
I have both. Two different locations. Like each for what they are.
