According to reviews, this has a 60Hz screen, which is fine if you're trying to play at 4K or 1440p but unfortunate if you're wanting max settings at 1080p and going above 60Hz.

Also, it is 2070 SUPER Max-Q. Which is on par with the 2070 full mobile chip but having better thermals.

Seems like a solid deal if you're cool with 60Hz screen!

Edit: for reference, I have an Asus with 8750 and 2070 full and get 60-90FPS on 2016 and newer AAA titles. I assume 2070 SUPER Max-Q will do slightly better so if you lower res from 4K to 1440p, you should get desirable results at 60Hz or tweak settings to play at 4K.

Basically you are paying $300 more for the OLED screen here.

$300 more than what? Please find me these specs without AMOLED for $1200.

This is a very solid deal if you want to use this as a Productivity Laptop first and gaming laptop as second. 60 Hz is still fine for a lot of games unless you are mainly concentrating on very high pace MOBA games.
This is also the 2020 redesign version of the Omen and as per various reviews by Dev2D, BobofAllTrades and others, this has very good thermals.

BTW, the GPU is RTX 2070 MAX-Q
Check the HP official spec below: -

Reviews on BB say it's the Super. Which they could obviously verify using GeForce Experience. HP website also states the 4k models only come with 120hz where this has 60.

That 120Hz model is a 4K IPS model and this is 4K OLED which currently comes with only one variant, a 60 Hz refresh rate. And what's your problem...I have given you the exact model link from HP Product Spec only. No need to drag this unnecessarily.

If someone bought this exact model, logged in to any monitoring app and it says 2070 super and proceeded write a detailed review I'm gonna believe them. You're going off a often wrong support page meanwhile people have this IRL and you're saying their wrong...

While I definitely appreciate your efforts Suryasis, I too question the specs directly from HP's website...especially when those specs state that the keyboard is a 4-zone RGB, and Bestbuy states the keyboard is per-key RGB, along with the Q&A section where it was answered that the keyboard is per-key RGB. Would it therefore be safe to assume that the HP spec you linked is the generic through HP without any additional options that may have been added for specific retailers? Not sure if that question makes sense...

In either case, I am torn between this deal, and the HP Omen posted earlier today for $1149.99 with a 300hz screen. AMOLED @ 60HZ, or IPS @ 300HZ? Save $250? Or spend $250 more for a better GPU, 1TB SSD vs 512GB, per-key RGB vs 4-zone RGB? Just looking for insight and recommendations. Also, if this laptop does indeed include the RTX 2070 Super Max-Q and the cheaper deal includes the RTX 2060 115w, how would the two compare?

Other food for thought...If I go to HP to customize my Omen Laptop model 15-ek series, you will see that the only option for an RTX 2070 is the SUPER with Max-Q...but no option that I immediately see for AMOLED, so idk.

oops for some reason thought this had a 2060. Still about 100$ more expensive than a similar spec'd deal a while back. I think that was the MSI on Amazon which had 10750h and RTX 2017 for 1399

Must've been this one: https://slickdeals.net/f/14198378-msi-gl65-leopard-gaming-laptop-144hz-i7-10750h-rtx2070-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-1399?v=1&src=SiteSearch

It's still active, but the HP offers 512GB more SSD space and an AMOLED panel. For $100 more, I think I'd upgrade to the AMOLED and take the additional 512GB SSD storage as a bonus. laugh out loud

How does this compare to previous alienware deal https://slickdeals.net/f/14247041-alienware-area-51m-r1-i7-9700k-rtx-2070-16gb-1080p-144hz-256gb-ssd-1tb-hdd-1619-or-1457-with-10-coupon?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo

This is a pretty good deal for a high-end 10th Gen Intel, the i7-10750H, RTX 2070 Super MQ, and 4K AMOLED panel from Samsung. For those who want that panel at a low price, this seems pretty reasonable based on the specifications. Those who are saying this is priced too high are dead wrong and not valuing the panel. This panel is meant for those who care. If you're aiming primarily to game, and especially to play FPS games, then this is probably not for you. You'd be better served by cheaper 144/240/300Hz FHD Panels.

I personally am running the Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED (9750H, 1660 Ti, 4K AMOLED) which originally cost about $1350. All Metal. I wouldn't expect the Omen to have the same build quality, but I also haven't seen reviews. Interesting deal.

I was drooling over that deal. How do you like it? I am personally not a huge fan of HP products, but it does look as though they have improved their overall quality recently, which I am happy to see and has me wanting to purchase this particular model.
