I have one of these, bought it for backyard movies and it's plenty loud for that.

edit: I actually have the soundcore 2 which has twice the output power of this one, I'd go that route if considering for outdoor movies.

I found that just one for outdoor movie night was a bit weak for a family of four. What I did was purchased two bluetooth transmitters that can each handle two simultanious streams. Then I bought four of these speakers so that everyone has their own. It works great, but if i were to do it again I would buy the Anker speakers with better bluetooth as there is a slight enough delay between audito and video that a trained eye will notice slight audio delays. Actually after double checking I have the soundcore 2, which actually has 12 watts as opposed to this unit which has 6. I'll update my reply above to reflect this! No delay issues I've noticed, but I'm just straight HDMI from the laptop to the projector and bluetooth to the speaker.

This thing is awesome. The battery really does last forever. I've even dropped it into a bucket of soapy water while washing my car once and it didn't affect it at all.

Anker makes some great speakers. That being said, there are other great, more powerful speakers you could get in this price range. I just don't see this as a slick deal.

I can't speak to price of this one compared to others (haven't shopped for a speaker of this size for about 8-9 months) or if this can be considered a slick deal.
I will confirm- we used for outdoor movie about 2 weeks ago and it was not loud enough.
However- I have this exact model and LOVE it for every other use! Qualify is solid, battery life is outstanding, and for every day use (painting outside, kids in backyard, tunes at the lake while swimming, playing bags at a friends house) it is a superb set-up and I recommend for an every day use speaker.

You will pay a slight premium for Anker- but is it worth spending an extra few bucks for one that is qualify built and will last for years? I say yes and highly recommend this one, but up to you to make that decision.

I have a 12 watts Anker Soundcore Motion B speaker. It is good for indoor, but still a little bit weak in backyard open space. Finally grabbed this AOMAIS 20 watts [amazon.com]. This is much louder and it is only $26 after clipped coupon now. The sound quality is so-so. But good enough for playing webinars or kids music outdoor.

I bought one of these about a year ago for $27 shipped from Amazon and it's honestly great. I bought this and a few other options at the time to compare and this was the best sounding overall and also the cheapest of the ones I tested. I use it when I'm in the garage or basement working on projects mostly.

Get the Tribit maxsound when it goes on sale for 40 or so...its 20 times better than this speaker. and great for indoor AND outdoor.
This Anker is just "ok" ...its pretty tinny sounding in comparison.

Does this use the micro USB connection to charge? This came out in 2015!? I had one that worked great sounded great for about 8 months and the micro USB port died and Anker would not honor a replacement. A micro USB charging port is it's Achilles heel. My supervisor had the same one and had the same issues...
