From the FAQs on Best Buy's website (couldn't find any info on Staples), this is step-approximated sine-wave, not pure.

EDIT: Confirmed on APC website: "Waveform type: Stepped approximation to a sinewave"

It just showed up when I found the item. I didn't even log into Staples. Even when I logged into Staples, the instant savings was there.
