This is a half-baked WIFI6 router. It does not have WPA3 for example. Wait for WIFI6E router.
Of course if all you need is a decent budget router and don't care WIFI6 features, this router is fine.

I bought this around 4 weeks ago for the same price, and as far as I know this is not a special price so I dont think this is a slickdeal.

However it is a great wifirouter for the price, and is working well with no problems.

I read that this model was made special for Walmart and some features were stripped out, for example the antennas are not removable and there are fewer features in the firmware.

Nevertheless I have not noticed any limitations, and I'm a power user. And for this price you get a solid router from a solid vendor with Wifi 6 support which gives you some future proofing. You practically cannot buy a decent router without Wifi 6 support for the same money.

This is the worst-performing ax router out there. You are better off sticking with ac and getting an Archer C7 [amazon.com] for less.

At this point I don't think there will be AX on openwrt for months. I check a couple of times a week.

My understanding is there are no broadcom chip routers with openwrt support so didn't bother looking at options.

I would stay away from this unless you just want to try out a cheap option and hope for the best. Price is great, and I do like the performance boost on my ax cell phones... But most of my devices don't have it and lack of range/stability is a deal breaker

Google thought they were good enough to partner with. 🤷 ♂️

My advice is to never buy a Broadcom router.
Their business model is security through obscurity.
They never release anything to the public, they never will have open source.
Dealing with the people in the company is like talking to a cactus.
They never update any of their router firmware, except to remove features.
Honestly, I surprised they stayed in the CPE business this long.
