So how is this any better than any other bike? I thought the whole point of pelaton and echelon was that the bike automatically adjusts?
No, they don't. Your body can handle different resistance than my body can and at different speeds. You adjust the bike to what suits you, not the person next to you, the instructor, or AI.

Can you use this machine without any apps?
I read a review on Walmart that said you can go into settings and disable whatever suggests you need to be connected.

At the end of the day, you don't need an app to pedal. Reviewers claim this is a well-constructed bike with little wobble compared to others in the price range. I'm hopeful it's well constructed and able to hold up.

The Echelon or one of these Sunny models?

1) Sunny SF-B1805: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07FC...nFbRJ1W357

2) Sunny SF-B1709: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07HL...nFb30NWP12

Edit: someone pointed out that the Echelon also has magnetic resistance, all three models should be pretty smooth and quiet.

I have owned the EX-5 for 3 months please note these points:

pros:

-price cheaper than a peloton
-can use the Peloton app as mentioned in other threads for a reasonable price
-bike has solid construction
-very low noise and smooth operation
-customer service is responsive and helpful

cons:

-the tension # does not match that of Peloton, my EX-5 max's out at 32 tension while Peloton goes up to a much higher number I believe 60+. If you are watching the app videos this will be a pain point attempting to determine the corresponding setting on the Echelon.

-the seat that comes with the bike was very uncomfortable had to order their 'comfortable' seat for $25.

I've had this bike for a month now. I'm 6'2 and I am on the max seat setting, so if you are any taller I would definitely look elsewhere. Otherwise the bike is great. You'll need to find a conversion chart to pair up with the peloton app

Question for people who ride regular bikes and have something like this, do you use your indoor bike very often? I typically ride fifty to a hundred miles a week outdoors year round so I'm not sure how much I would actually use this. I like the idea of having it especially since the idea of going to a gym seems like it'll be bad for a long time. But I can also see using it only 5 times a year.

Is there an option to change pedals to get a clip on one's? Would really prefer that
I got this at the beginning of COVID and got these pedals

I paid $36 with prime free shipping . So I would shop around, but know these fit.

I recall listening to a podcast with their CEO and they had so much trouble selling the bike at around this $500-$800 price point. Once they bumped it over $1k they started selling like crazy. There's a psychology to premium products where if you don't price them just right people will think they are cheap and won't look at it. Starbucks is another great example of this.
It is called business marketing and it worked with consumers

Hi guys, saw this post and wanted to give some advice.
If you want to go with the peloton budget set up get a sunny bike from amazon for 120-150 and run the peloton app.
I did this before getting the actual peloton bike. I ended up loving the classes so much and wanted to dial into the instructors resistance or cadence. I haven't looked back since. I wish I did it sooner

The Sunnys have magnetic resistance, while the Echelon does not. I'm assuming the Sunnys would be smoother and quieter.
The Echelon Connects magnetic flywheel offers 32 levels of resistance

32 levels of silent magnetic resistance lets you vary your workout intensity
