Anyone know if both the WAHOO Cadence RPM and Speed sensors are required to work with the Echelon Sport ?
TL;DR - No, you use two devices, one for the Echelon app for stats (free, phone/table) and one for the Peloton app for workouts ($12/mo, phone, tablet fire/Apple TV).

No, you just need a device with the Echelon app to see the stats in settings>freestyle ride. If you are using the Peloton app for workouts, you need another device to see the Peloton workouts at the same time. If you want your cadence to show up ON the Peloton workout screen, the Wahoo sensor is one way to do that (and works well, I have used it), however, the Peloton app only shows cadence on a tablet or phone. If you use a FireTV or Apple TV there is no way to get your cadence to show on the Peloton screen currently.

Ideally I'd like to use my TV with roku and/or fire tv for the pelaton classes using my in-laws account. Is this possible?

I also have a ipad and android phone i could use for stats. What else would I need to complete the experience? Just the cadence sensor thing?
Nothing else assuming using someone else's account will work.

That's the exact setup I have. Install Echelon on your phone/iPad and create a free profile, connect to bike, go the settings>freestyle ride to ride. Install Peloton on your streaming device, log in, and pick a spin class. That's it.

I guess I'll say again since the thread is getting long, use half (or just under half) the resistance setting of the lower number the Peloton instructors say as a good starting point. Example - if Ben Aldis says 30-45 resistance for Peloton users, on this bike start with 14-15.

Thanks for your reply. So for the Peloton app on an iPad, which of the two sensors will be needed, the RPM or the Speed ? Or both ?

excellent! thanks for the reply.

Do you find yourself wanting anything the "real" peloton owners have? I mean it sounds like a nearly complete solution for 1/4 the price

Neither is needed. But "if you want", you can use a cadence sensor so that it shows in the Peloton app on your phone or tablet. It's not needed to see cadence in the free Echelon app.

Previous posts in this thread went into some detail on that. You won't get the full "interactive" experience of full Peloton like the leaderboard, shout outs, high fives. But then, you're not paying $2500 for a bike with extended warranty and $40/mo subscription.

There is a great group on Facebook for people with this bike and other Echelons. It's called Peloton Digital App - Echelon Riders.

Which Wahoo sensor would I need to not have to use 2 devices?

Thanks again for your reply. For the exact scenario you describe above, amazon has two WAHOO Cadence products available:

1) Wahoo RPM Cycling Cadence Sensor, Bluetooth/ANT+ for $40
2) Wahoo RPM Cycling Speed and Cadence Sensor, Bluetooth/ANT+ for $70 - These appear to be two devices.

Do I need #1 or #2 ?

Regards

No I don't. I use a big TV and a tablet, so I actually like my setup better to be honest. And I do love the Peloton App and instructors. Well worth the $12/mo or whatever it is. Not sure I'd be too keen on paying $50/mo which is what it costs if you have their bike.

The cadence one, but if you are doing that, there's no point in having this bike. You can use that cadence sensor with any bike and get the same thing. The nice thing about this bike is it can give you cadence, resistance, and watt data while you ride. If you just want cadence, get a cheap pad resistance bike.

Just got this bike two weeks ago and so far I'm very impressed. I've only been using the Freestyle function of the app. Does anyone know if there are any other compatible apps (besides Peloton) that I can use to sync up with Apple Health (or use through the Apple Watch) that won't cost additional money. To sync it with Apple Health with the Echelon Fit app you have to pay for a subscription. I have no interest in paying for a subscription to do classes, just to sync my metrics over to Apple Health.
