Just want to say Stella has some of the best and intuitive recipes. She'll usually send you out for 1 specific ingredient you may not already have but everything I have made of hers has been outstanding and never failed.

This book is half copycat recipes and half not. The 2 must make recipes I'd give you are the glossy fudge brownies and the brown butter carrot cake.

$3 is a phenomenal deal for an amazing piece of culinary work. I believe it won a James Beard award. This book isn't exactly for beginners; the ingredients list and steps are long. But Stella has put so much research and testing into her recipes. She's super thorough; for example her super tasty recipe for tiramisu involves making your own ladyfingers from scratch (and believe it or not that is one of the less intensive recipes).

edit: also her key lime pie is sublime, probably because she has you make condensed milk and bake graham crackers from scratch lol.

fyi the book is rather sparse on pictures if thats important to you. its just a lot of text

stella is a pastry wizard, and this book won a james beard award. she's been amazing on social media trouble shooting recipes and i've been apart of her trying to make her restaurant versions home cook version friendly.

she has a lot posted on seriouseats.

outside the outstanding recipes, the cook book gives a lot of history to the favorite iconic american desserts.

i know i sound like a shill, but i've made a ton of her recipes over the years that were giant hits. her being a great person to boot is just icing on the cake.
