Honor Harrington series is great through book 8, book 9 if you want to finish the first narrative arc. From there it really devolves into two dimensional archetype characters doing things that are supposed to make sense, without any of the depth or action that defined the series before those books.

I believe the first two honor harrington and bunch of other series are free 24/7/365 on Baen.com like any good drug dealer first hit is free
