They had this on sale a couple weeks ago for the same amount. I believe $176 is the new "buy now" price. The "Elements" version of the 12TB hit that last month.

These deals would be so much less painful for me if I didn't need to buy 3 drives at a time.

How does Elements compare to EasyStore?
Basically planning on using the drive for streaming media.

It only provides USB connection, what is the best method to use this as a NAS? I have a mesh network at home. Or should I look for something else?

I'm tired of all the "black" drives. Where's the yellow and purple and gold externals?

Ever noticed how WD says "black" hoping people will confuse the color of the case with the extra fast, almost-enterprise-level, 5-year warranty, "black" HDD line they used to sell?
BTW, Backblaze has a new report out just last week for the huge disks. They stopped buying WD HDDs for some reason.

We buy drives based on price and availability. We didn't stop buying WD drives, they just couldn't meet one or both of these criteria. We do buy HGST drives, which is owned by WD, but as on the end of Q2 we did have have any of the WD branded drives in operation.
Depends on the model. While manufacturer comparisons are interesting, the particular model from a given manufacturer is a much better indicator.

Too good to pass up. My Plex server is in desperate need of more storage capacity.
