Not to Ram this down anyone's throat, but other non-tech-whiz folks like me may want to put a Pin in this and confirm their laptop's memory configuration. If my Memory serves correctly, last time I was SODIMM that I bought DDR4 when I needed DDR3. Making an easily avoidable return really Bytes!
I believe you can still use www.crucial.com to determine what memory you need for your computer if you don't already know. Hope this helps.

? Not at all. People exaggerate the need for high speed memory. If you are a gamer, you are talking about a difference of a few fps in some games. Not sure of any measurable difference outside of that.

the bigger factor for overall performance is having 'dual channel' ram configuration; I.e. using two sticks of ram

Not to TC but I got this same brand @ 3200mhz for the same price with at Newegg after the easily obtainable new customer coupon. But, currently, for this capacity single stick this is the best price regardless of speed.

I don't play game, but plan to get an AMD 4800H laptop. Is it better for me to spend $20 more to get 2x16gb at 3200Mhz ram? Or this would provide same performance?

if you are only doing basic computing, yes this is good enough, most likely you wouldnt feel any difference.
