iif you don't currently have a z370 or z390, then it is better to pick up a z490 mobo with a 10600k. That combo is going to be cheaper than if you buy this and a z370/z390 mobo. This is only a deal for those who currently have z370 or z390 mobo and 9600k or lower.
Any good motherboard deal to pair this with? Looking to upgrade a machine going on 5 years old

I decided to bite. Since I'm already on Z390/9400F I can basically double my CPU score without having to upgrade the whole CPU/mobo/memory combo. With my usage that should last me a good 5-10 years, or until the mobo dies at least.
And the corresponding motherboards do not have pcie 4 for GPUs and the next gen gpu's will supposedly use it...we will know for sure tomorrow when Nvidia announces the new cards
it's totally worth it if you're only gaming. For workstations it may be better to get a Ryzen but if you're on a 370/390 board then it's totally the price.
I bought one from Microcenter at the same price up from a 9600k and I haven't looked back.
Does this cpu need a special motherboard? Or any motherboard that support 9th gen is fine?
It needs something with a decent vrm heatsink. I have one of these on a z370 hero motherboard. Z390 is what's currently more available so you will have to check pricing I just would not go super cheap if you plan on doing any kind of overclocking which this chip is a natural for. The minimum cooler a person should be looking at with one of these is something like a fuma2

The marvel deal works with it as well. Is anyone familiar with this machine and does it seem like a good deal to anyone else. It would be used for medium level gaming and occasional movie watching/web surfing. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and will be repped. TIA
