I am genuinely curious: why?

I would understand that argument if it was a port of the original to new consoles, but the amount of new art assets and scenarios makes me think it is worth at least $40 (retail). Yes, it's only part of the original story, but it goes into much more detail for that section, and they incorporated new story elements, so it's not a 1:1 retelling of the original. Also, the battle system is sufficiently new and unique that I would consider it built from scratch more than a recreation of the original. I would say the only things that are taken from the original is the core concepts (story, characters, enemies, weapons, etc.). This is much closer to a brand new game than a remaster.

Full disclosure, I have yet to play the full game (I've only played the demo), so perhaps I am wrong about some of this. I generally wait and buy games used/on sale (I try to pay no more than $40 for a game), but I paid full price for this one and it is installed on my PS4.

I've bought probably 30-40 games from them in the past. Always got them with case and inserts. I have had 3-4 of the games chipped and unplayable. Easy returns but they don't do exchanges so make sure you test them when you get them in and before the sale ends.

I wonder if this is a good time to get Death Stranding, or do I wait? Have had great experience with Gamefly used games though. Would not hesitate to buy from them.

Only ever had good experiences with Gamefly used. I usually even get the included day one DLCs that come with some games. I cant remember a time I didnt get a retail case. As for Death Stranding, it can be a little tedious, but there's something weirdly compelling about moving forward and delivering them packages lol

I bought plenty of games from Gamefly before, and have had a good experience, however I'm not getting free shipping when I go to checkout (Fallen Order, PS4). Guess I'll hold off for now.

Their disks always come with brand new cases. I've seen more and more disks which look pristine but won't load. As stated, they don't exchange, only refund.

I have never not gotten an OG case with gamefly. I have gotten unused dlc codes a couple of times.
