KEF Q150 Bookshelf Speakers (Pair, Walnut) ($374.99 w/ Free Prime Ship) $374.99

NY Time's Wirecutter's "Upgrade Pick" for best sounding bookshelf speakers in March 2019. urlhasbeenblocked wants $449 Used, and Best Buy, Crutchfield, and Amazon are all selling these @ $600.

We've found a pair of bookshelf speakers that sound great and can serve for years as the centerpiece of a stereo music system or a multichannel home theater setup. The Q Acoustics 3020i speakers stood out from more than two dozen pairs we tested because their audio and build quality is better than anything else in their price range.

Upgrade pick
KEF Q150

A step up in sound quality
The KEF Q150 is our favorite-sounding bookshelf speaker, but it has a higher price tag than most of the competition.

If you want to go for an upgrade, the KEF Q150 bookshelf speakers were the overwhelming favorite in our tests because they delivered more detail and clearer sound than the other speakers we reviewed, but they cost a good bit more than the Q Acoustics 3020i. The Q150 comes in two different finishes, and the KEF Q Series includes a matching center channel and add-on Atmos speaker for home theater use.

These usually go on sale for $300 multiple times a year. Also, doesn't look like the KEF Warranty will apply

Been looking for some Bookshelf speakers for my newly set up office and I know these were rated very highly in a couple of articles however, I cant justify the price. I like great sounding speakers but will probably go with the Sonys or Pioneer that are about a 3rd of the price and rated highly also.
Sound quality won't be near as good as the KEF but budgets do matter.

Wait for a sale. Pioneers have been $40 I think.

How do these stack up against the LS50?

Thinking of maybe setting up something in a second room.

It may not be a "budget" issue either, the "worth" of it comes into play as Toolnut eluded to.

Will you hear that "presumed" quality worthy of the price.

There is some secret sauce in that Uni-Q driver. I don't have these, but I have some others. KEFs just sound clean to me.

Wow! Right now the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR Speakers are $179.99 on Amazon! Wonder when they will drop.

Probably not that low for a while, if ever.

How can you tell warranty doesn't apply?

KEF only authorizes a handful of online dealers. Amazon is one of them, not sure woot would count event though it's owned by Amazon

The LS50 are on another level. I use the Q100 for desktop use, a pair of Q150 for my Den Left/Right front stage, and a pair LS50 for my 2 channel music setup in my formal living room. The Q100 and Q150 are not very picky with front end gear so you can use pretty much any class D or A/B amp and they will sound great. The LS50 will reward you for using better gear and punish you a little for using bad gear or playing poorly recorded tracks.
