New customers can get 20% off a Magenta or Magenta Plus plan and existing customers (or new customers getting a non-magenta plan) can get $200 off a 5G phone.

Price for 4 lines on Magenta with 20% Insider Hookup: $112

See more example costs in the last FAQ question below.

See redemption instructions in the wiki section below.

Offer ends September 30th.

Type 1: 20% off Hookup
This will be the most popular by far. It will give customers porting in from AT&T/Verizon/Eligible MVNO 20% off all voice lines for the life of the account, even lines added later in the life of the account. This offer is stackable with pretty much all existing promos such as discounts on phones when you add a line, etc. This will also stack with third line free.

Type 2: $200 off a 5G phone for new customers
This one will probably be the least popular. New customers can get a code for $200 off a 5G phone. It will stack with other active promos, for example if a 5G phone has 50% off with add a line, etc. This type is only really useful for those opening a new account that isn't a magenta or magenta plus account, such as when opening a 55+ account or a first responder account.

Type 3: $200 off a 5G phone for existing customers
Existing customers can get a $200 rebate card when they purchase a new 5G phone from T-Mobile on an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP). No add-a-line necessary.

We have PLENTY of codes over on the subreddit (r/tmobile) and in the subreddit's Discord server (linked in the about/sidebar of the subreddit).

FAQ:

Q: What is a "Hookup Code"?
A: A hookup code is a unique code provided by T-Mobile and Sprint employees. Each employee gets 3 codes to hand out of each type. This code can be registered online along with your phone number to give you discounts, either 20% off the account or $200 off a 5G phone, depending on the code.

Q: I used a code. Now what?
A: If you got no error messages, you're all set. For the 20% off code simply visit a T-Mobile store to setup a new account and port in the number you registered the code with. You don't even have to mention hookup to the employee if you don't want to, everything will be automatic. For the $200 off code, you will use it after buying a new 5G phone on EIP and receiving the phone.

Q: I already have a T-Mobile account. Can I get this deal?
A: No. New accounts only. You would need to port in a number from a carrier that is not a T-Mobile/Sprint account or one of their MVNOs into a brand new account using an account holder that does not currently have a postpaid T-Mobile account.

Q: My number was on T-Mobile or Sprint in the last 90 days. Do I qualify?
A: No. In order to qualify as a new customer, the number you port in (and use for the insider hookup) cannot have been on T-Mobile or Sprint (or one of their MVNOs) in the last 90 days.

Q: Can I stack other promos?
A: Yes! 20% Hookup is compatible with pretty much all other promos like phone trade in deals.

Q: How much would my plan be with the 20% discount?
A: On Magenta, 1 line is $56, 3 lines is $96 (w/third line free), 4 lines is $112, and additional lines are +$16 each (up to 8 lines). On Magenta Plus, 1 line is $68, 3 lines is $112, 4 lines is $136, and additional lines are +$24 each (up to 8 lines). Both plans are taxes included, so what you see is what you pay.

Darn it, The type 3 offer details say it is just for the purchase of a 5G phone. I was just about to purchase an iPhone 11 Pro Max and then it struck me that it wasn't 5G. So, I suppose this offer isn't for those of us upgrading iPhones.
The iPhone 12 release on 15th.

Just off the line with CSR and she told me I need to port in a number even I open a new line. Is Google Voice the simplest place to port in a number? Is there any time requirement on it, or say, if I apply one now, can I port it to T-Mobile tomorrow?

Anyone got 3 or 2 lines cost for the magenta plan after 20% ? I wonder how much it would be...
3 lines are $96/mo taxes included on magenta with 20% off and third line free.

There still a trade in offer to pay off a Verizon phone?
Look up Keep & Switch promo. It stacks with 20% hookup.

I joined Tmobile in August using type 1 code. Can I use type 3 code when the new iPhone comes out without losing discount from my type 1 code?
No since this is the same promo period only one code per account.

I plan on doing this instore. Please help me clarify the process so that I can be on top of things and not let store rep mess it up.

Porting in 4 lines from VzW. New TMO account.

Magenta plan. Should be $112 with 20% discount. (They have a 3rd line free).

I have $125 remaining on each of the lines at VzW.

Will TMO help pay it off and stack with Type 1 discount?

Then I want o buy 3 iPhone11 free with new acct new line port-in and trade-in (trading in iPhoneX). So iPhone11 should be free after monthly credits over 24 months.

There is $30 activation fee for each line with Type 1 discount.

Will all of the above stack/work in conjunction with each other?

Thanks a lot for your help.
Look up the Keep & Switch promo, it can be used for payoff. All of that should stack together I think.

Thanks for the update. Looks like they lowered the offer to switch from 650 down to 450. I'll have to wait and keep Verizon as I owe 585 on my phone still.

Curious to know if it is possible to buy and activate a phone through Costco while using the Friends and Family 20% discount code?

I got a code, entered it into the T-Mobile Insider website and website then gave me a tracking ID. Costco has better prices on phones and doesn't charge the SIM activation fee....also I think they might even give you a $100 Costco gift card to switch.

Has anyone successfully gotten the 20% discount when activating at Costco?

I got one! Thank you so much 💓 I've been with AT&T for 20 years. Our 5 line bill was $220 and went to $350 this month because they eliminated roll over ďata and forced us into unlimited

That is true. I wonder if the Type 3 insider code provided here will still be available when I have the phone in hand and so I can provide that IMEI.

I meant now the plan prices are increased. Magenta plus is $43 per line instead of $40 /line
and Essentials is now $26/line instead of $25/line

The announcement will be on the 15th, but the rumor is that the shipments won't go out until October (I think this promotion will end before people have the new iPhones in hand).

FYI - Just ported over from Verizon using a 20% code. The discount started to appear online within 2-3 days of completing the port.

Essentials went up because the 4/$100 plan expired. The "per line" price varies based on number of lines purchased. For example, plus is $40/line if you get 5 lines (with third line free).

Just come back from the store and has some info to share. I open a new account and port in one line. The employee help me to apply the code and tell me when I get a message saying the 20% discount is approved, I can switch my current T-mobile lines to that new account.

He also told me a couple things:
1. Those three types of codes each account can only use one. For example, if you use type 1 for 20% off you cannot use the type 2 for $2000 off a phone. He said you can apply the type 2 code when you buy the phone but they will not give you $200 credit later. I really doubt this but he assure me this is true.
2. If I just open the account with one line port-in, there is no other promotions for me. But if I port in two lines, I can enjoy the "3rd line on us" promotion and also the "iPhone 11 on us" promotion. That is about trade in iPhone 8 and buy a iPhone 11 Pro, you will get $1000 back in billing credit. Can buy up to 4 phones per account. That's a huge discount for me. Since none of us want to change the existing phone number, I wonder if I could port out one line to other carriers. Then open another new line with port-in number to qualify for the promotion. After a couple month, call T-Mobile to port in that line with other carrier to replace the second new line. Probably it will not work if the billing credit is tied to the second new line number.
