ymmv possibly shill-y?

given, it comes with a lot of stuff for the price. bag, straps, rope, clips.
hammock straps alone can run this much. just a gamble re quality

Similar sets recommended by amazon are $25 so in reality you are not saving much it's just inflated price with big coupon. You will probably need a rainfly as it's not included.

Nice detective work sir. These hammocks are made in various factories in china and has quality nothing to do with the brand selling it.

I will however point out that the hammock is 10ft long, which is the minimum length I would consider comfortable. With the bug net being more restricting I would only recommend this for a short person. Would bite if it was 11ft

Very shilly post. As others have said, these are pretty common with various brands but most likely very similar or identical. Mine is a ShineHai without the net. It's good at being a hammock and without any issues, but I don't think this is much of a deal.

I ordered this (smaller one) and received it last week. I haven't used it yet. I believe is the same price as what I paid.

Here are my thoughts on it.
- I wanted to use straps vs. ropes. However, the straps on these are only 1' wide which is OK. My other set has 2" straps.
- The expectation is that you attach the hammock directly to the strap. It has some limitation w/ how close or far apart the attachment points can be. This is not unique to this hammock. You can get some ropes to extend it.
- If you are over 5' 5", I recommend you go with the larger one. I am 5' 8" and is OK for occasional use.
- Have not use on camping yet, so can't say much more then this.

I do a lot of hammock backpacking.

The price is very cheap. But I'd honestly either pass, or just use it without the net for lounging around. I don't care what 1600 reviews say. This thing looks short, complex, and has some issues. Maybe use this without the net and then decide if you want spend real money ($125) on a quality netted 11' hammock setup like a Hammock Gear hammock if you want to give it a REAL try.

Problems with this hammock:
- It's a little short. Below 10 feet. 11 foot hammocks are considered the gold standard. You'll "banana" up more in this hammock. Maybe achy back, achy knees. If you're short maybe it'll be okay.
- Fiddly net. Hammocks already have a "fiddle factor" to get them just the way you like it. This one also has a weird net suspension to also mess with (better hammocks have it integrated with the hammock on a ridgeline),
- No ridgeline. Means the net is fiddly as described above, and the hammock won't have the proper amount of sag to be optimally comfortable unless hung just right.
- It's heavy. A quality netted hammock will be around 16oz. For $20 I'll give that a pass though.

Anyway if you want to ignore all of this and take it camping have fun, keep in mind you need a tarp hung over it in case of rain, and you MUST MUST MUST have a sleeping pad with you if it's under 65 degrees (trust me, all that air swirling underneath you will make you colder than if you'd just laid on the ground)

There's lots of good companies out there (HammockGear being the cheapest good one), but what you find on Amazon isn't. Amazon hammocks are good for cheap, lounge-around hammocks but have shortcomings for overnight sleeping.

Edit: one exception to the rule (thanks Odin99) is this $50 hammock on Amazon [amazon.com]. It looks pretty good for the price.

Which models do you recommend for a cheaper, but durable and comfortable hammock?

Netless ($40-70): HammockGear, Warbonnet, Dutchware, Simply Light Designs, DreamHammock among others. ALWAYS opt for a ridgeline, and I suggest "continuous loops" at the ends and whatever type of suspension you want. Straps/buckles are cheap and easy, whoopie slings are lightweight but a little more fiddly.

Another option: DIY hammock kit from Ripstop By The Roll for less. It's not difficult to make a gathered end hammock, but the cheaper brands (Amazon chinese hammocks, Eno) never use nice material or enough length.

For netted hammocks, it's mostlly the same vendor list. DreamHammock Darien is an excellent hammock for $120.

Edit: for dirt cheap, this $50 one on Amazon [amazon.com]too. Not American made but imported and with US based support. It's not quite as well made and a little heavier but it's got the important stuff.
